Belgian Grand Prix 2014, Spa-Francorchamps - Race 12/19

I really really hope DR performs a miracle and takes the WDC

That Red Bull chassis is still leagues ahead of anything else out there. Only they could get away with relying so much on mechanical grip instead of aero.

I'm hoping amongst hope that this years McLarens chassis is actually balanced for the incoming Honda engine and that's why they are slow.

If Rosberg/Hamilton had another contact, both missing out on points and Riccy picked up another 25 points, then he's suddenly within a double points 50 point race win of the title.

I don't see it, the Merc's will continue to pick up wins and while I wouldn't rule out them knocking each other off in a race, or even two, the gap is likely to increase before the final race rather than decrease.

The final race if Ham/Rosberg are 50+ points clear and they can only beat each other...... would one of them knock the other one off. If Rosberg say had the lead, had a 50+ gap on Riccy and knocked Hamilton off to win the title I think he'd get the title with the FIA likely being girls and not banning him, but Merc would can him.

Rosberg extends his lead.
I stated this many times already - Hamilton has the speed. Rosberg has the intelligence.
And speed doesnt always win.

If Rosberg attempts to "race" and out pace Hamilton, he is likely to lose the title. Rosberg (with his high intelligence knows this). So, Rosberg is going to use other techniques which will allow him to gain the advantage on Hamilton.

We saw this at Monaco, which IMO was very clever. Someone with an average IQ simply would not have been able to do what Rosberg did at Monaco. Hamilton though, knew exactly what Rosberg did.

Rosberg just seems to know how to extend and protect his championship lead. Hamilton keeps trying to use brute speed to claw himself back...but right now, it isnt working.

FWIW, Hamilton fans should not despair, though. Hamilton still has that brute speed to call upon. And Rosberg won't always be able to do what he did in Monaco or today. For sure, he will think up new "tricks", but Hamilton has the brute speed and lets not forget - double points in the last race of the season.

I assume that was all sarcasm.

Rosberg was never ahead at any point so it was up to him to back out and he didn't. If I were cynical I might say Nico knew he would likely cause a puncture and Hamilton would have 3 miles to to drive at half speed and he would only lightly damage his own wing.

Before doesn't matter, the contact was after that picture, not before it. Hamilton was behind him at the start, also irrelevant. At that point Hamiltons line is as with all corners, moving from the inside to outside even though he's turning right the whole time. his line doesn't deviate and it's predictable. Again from the video you can clearly see Rosberg turn to avoid Hamilton, then turn back, the turning back causes contact, nothing else, it's 100% Rosberg's fault.

His intention is the key thing, most people believe he didn't intend to hit him, he just intended to turn in behind Hamilton and he got it completely wrong. The action, turning right, was entirely Rosberg's and that is what caused the contact.

hamilton actions i.e by turning in on him and squeezing him off when they were partially side by side caused rosberg to touch him so it is relevant

Rosberg's car didnt move from the line he was on, LH's was the one that was moving (even if he was ahead)

and yes LH KNEW Rosberg was there and knew how close he was, he MUST have known there was a risk of contact against rosberg's wing

IF Rosberg got it so wrong why was there no penalty during the race........

You really need to watch it again, LH doesn't move from the racing line.

Sunama, are you suggesting that Rosberg made a conscious decision to use his front wing to puncture Hamiltons tyre?

If that is what you're suggesting then your post is nothing but absolute dross.

It would not be 'highly intelligent' to risk damaging your car or incurring a penalty, or both, in the hope that you puncture your team mates tyre.

Rosberg admitting he could have avoided the collision but didn't because 'he wanted to prove a point'

Nothing will come of it because Merc won't want to reduce their own points but still, not great from Nico...

If that's true I hope the FIA take it out of Mercedes hands and react with a ban of some sort. They can't allow drivers to purposely hit each other, it's ridiculously stupid and dangerous regardless of where it happens or at what speed.

Really need to hear this from Toto because I'm sure whatever's been said was only meant to be heard by team members.

Crazy if true. Hopefully we will see the quotes confirmed. If they are legit I don't see how further action of some kind can't be taken?

Rosberg has shot himself in the foot, this is now no longer an internal team issue since Rosberg has (indirectly) admitted to driving dangerously.

The FIA will be all over this like a rash, and the minimum penalty I can see being imposed is a few races bans (or at the very least - 1 race ban).
