im buying it for the 1080p

and the fact that by my standards the 2407 is faulty.
Are you sure it can display 1080p? If it can, screw spending £2000 on a 1080p hdtv. I am buying this instead.

I think some TFT's can use 1:1 pixel mapping through the use of software. There was a 1:1 mapping thread dedicated to showing which monitors can do 1:1 and I swear some said "Yes - Through Software". Even though it is missing I'm still not discounting the monitor. I'm gona preorder it me thinks.

Just found out about this monitor coming out. I’m definitely interested in it, as it has a new panel with new technology. I was hoping that this monitor would be one of the first to get over the "input lag" problems? I am currently playing games on a 17" CRT with a 20 inch Dell LCD which has 40-50ms lag. (Recorded myself)

I’m positive that nowadays gamers are looking for monitors with low input lag as apposed to size, response time and quality. Any chance someone could shed some light on this?

Thanks :D

For the price of this screen, someone may think that integration of such feature is not a big deal. Anyhow, as native resolution is really high this could be a problem for some people. On the other hand, we are not sure if (currently implemented) resolution interpolation is any good. Yes, you may get away with the GPU 1:1 pixel mapping support, but that doesn't always work as expected.

Well, not exactly the rule of thumb. Response time & overdrive implementation are very important bits, probably much more important than the input lag myth. Picture quality and screen size are also important, but some gamers are ready to sacrifice this for the cheap & fast gaming panels. On the other hand, some gamers are also appreciating picture quality and they are ready to invest more because of this. You see, it's not that easy ... :) Good monitor will always try to make the perfect balance between the picture quality and response time.

i suppose it all depends on whether i want it for skyhd and just general office stuff... or gaming as well. I would really want everything. i knew this monitor would lack something. Theres always something wrong with stuff. Jeremy clarkson wouldnt be impressed, and i am not either.

Quake 3 Input lag
Input lag Info

Input lag is not a myth. I notice it in games and have taken a picture of both a crt and a dell 2005fp in clone with the lcd reporting a time of 50ms later than the crt. But im not gonna go off topic here.

I agree that gamers would take all that into account ofc. However input lag is now a pretty large factor in a monitor as well as other factors. More so than picture quality, maybe size and responce time since the broad range of current lcd's have decent picture quality and responce time anyways.

Hopefully someone can measure when they buy it, or review it.

Only the l33t would notice it tbh. I had to watch the slow mo to notice it. Maybe I would if I was playing it but I don't have a problem with my 2 year old laptop screen.

Wondering if this monitor will support progressive scan 480p over the component cable, I am guessing it will but not too sure.

Want to hook up my nintendo Wii when i get one!

Hi there

All sorted now. The monitor should be available for pre-order in the next 24 hours. :)
BenQ are just working on a special support price for me and are organising exclusive launch. Informed them they need to be cheaper than DELL, so fingers crossed. :)

The girl I spoke too was very knowledgable and seemed very keen to support us which is very good. As its the staff that make a company so hopefully she will increase BenQ's profile within OcUK and provide our customers great support when they need it too. :)
She is visiting next week with a sample of the FP241W for us to play with.

Regarding the FP241WZ this version is not been released until sometime in 2007, so we can forget about that one for now.

Did anything come of this ? Itd be nice to have a definite answer on how the screen scaling works for a non pc or any non 1920:1200 input (i.e. stretch or aspect).
It looked as though those far eastern reviews (showing aspect) werent running a HD picture directly to the monitor but using a player in the pc.

Eagerly awaiting some reviews. My NEC's really nice, (took three RMA's to get a good one) and games look very, very good with no input lag that I can see (and I play far too much Quake 4 online) but I'm twitching for an upgrade, if the G80's are as fast as is being rumoured then 1920x1200 will be more than possible with SLI, I'm still worried about the 1:1 thing though.
