BenQ XL2730Z Freesync Owners Thread

So DPD didn't contact me to arrange collection much in advance like I was expecting. Had a text mid morning to say they are collecting it today...not helpful when I am already in work. Benq cant request a specific time, so will see what I get. Have changed collection to tomorrow. Don't fancy taking the whole day off, but will have to if it isn't at a convenient time. I knew this would be a pain.

i had the same issues as yourself with regards to them collecting it , but once that was done it was back within 5 working days

However i wasn't notified when it was on its way back,, luckily someone was in to collect then later that day i got a text to tell me it was being delivered

hmmmmm

It will be worth it when all is done and you have it back home again you will be glad that its been updated......
 
Well having not had confirmation from DPD today with a time of collection it makes me slightly concerned (they did text yesterday though to say it would be collected today). Have contacted benq to chase up DPD, but they haven't gotten back to me yet either. They better collect it today or they have all completely wasted my time.
 
Would anyone be able to say how the colour performance would stack up against a Samsung SA850T (PLS) 27" monitor? How much worse would the BenQ be exactly?

Hi I've got the BenQ XL2730Z as my main computer screen and then directly above it I'm using a Samsung S27D85K PLS for a set-top box (television) and 2nd PC monitor

I think this is basically the SA850T screen because I've seen it called that in other regions (2560x1440?)

Just on going by various desktop wallpapers I've had set seen on both screens the PLS has more detailed colours it has a slightly nicer overall look for still images but you'd be hard pressed to call the BenQ panel "bad" its just fine in my books not much to differentiate between the two.

I watched movies on the samsung previously but with FreeSync on the BenQ I cant go back to the PLS panel with tearing on the movies I know I could change videoplayer settings to enable vertical sync and such but I much prefer be lazy and just use the FreeSync feature !!!
 
Thanks, yes the SA850T is 2560x1440p. I think they've used that panel in a few monitors actually. I'm very happy with it from a colour perspective, and as I do some Photoshop work etc. the jump to TN is something I've never really considered. Curious about the comparison though, so interesting if there's not THAT much between them in that respect. Not sure about pixel density though, if there's anything to separate them there, or if they would be the same?
 
Well ive got one of these coming tomorrow :)

EDIT: Didn't know it had DL-DVI as well, so i'll be able to get the 144Hz without having to use the DP cable, can just plug my DL-DVI cable straight in. :p

Also just seen this.

From a monitor point of view the use of FreeSync creates a problem at the moment on the XL2730Z at the moment. The issue is that the AMA setting does nothing when you connect the screen over DisplayPort to a FreeSync system. This applies whether you are actually using FreeSync or not, you don't even need to have the option ticked in the graphics card settings for the problem to occur.

Doesn't matter if your using Freesync or not, so looks like it'll be going back for a firmware updated model. :p :(

Those of you that have already had the update done, did you get any sort of progrees update or feedback during the process? Mine was picked up on Monday but not heard anything yet.

Yeah, I'm waiting a bit in the hope OcUK will get stock with the new firmware (they may already have it).
Need to decide what I'm doing on the GPU front though.
Fit my 3 x 290X cards (in in sealed boxes), get 2 x Fury X cards or get 2 x 980Ti cards. If I go with the Ti cards then this monitor might not be ideal.
