BenQ XL2730Z Freesync Owners Thread

Think i'll pick one of these up when i get a Fury X, how will you know you're getting a one thats already had the firmware update, and is the firmware update only needed for the Freesync ?, as im not really interested in that, its more the 144Hz, as ive manged so far without having Freesync, so im sure i can carry on without it :p

I just came across this the 2nd time and just had to respond !!! if you where to buy this screen and a Fury X videocard and not utilize FreeSync would be completely missing out on something special!!!

IMHO its completely worth it to wait just 1 week to have the AMA - FreeSync firmware updated to the screen.... the benefits are just to many and there are literally no cons to utilizing FreeSync with a Fury X videocard....

The intervals the screen updates using FS are more frequent & consistent so whatever framerate you have its going to appear to be higher than it really is... so if your Fury X reaches 144FPS in whichever game you play + FreeSync your getting ULTRA smooth moving images without any tearing ... SO WORTH IT.

dont knock down FreeSync its the bomb, I know I cant live without it!

I'm keen to pick up two of these with the new firmware. Is there an ETA on the arrival of new firmware stock. I did see 1st of July mentioned somewhere else - but would be good to get confirmation from OCUK!

Cheers,

Rob.

brillant service by Repairtech, just had an email and text, my screen will be delivered back to me on the 26th. Was picked up on Mondy, back to me on Friday.

Good stuff guys :D

Shame we do not have a BenQ guy here to give him feedback.

Because usually you hear only negative posts about anything, and never the positives.

Well ive got one of these coming tomorrow :)

EDIT: Didn't know it had DL-DVI as well, so i'll be able to get the 144Hz without having to use the DP cable, can just plug my DL-DVI cable straight in. :p

Where did you buy it from, OCUK? Could you confirm the firmware version, does it require the update? :)

Got display back so far very happy. UFO Ghosting test I can clearly see the Setting working when switching between AMA :D

Has for colours better am not sure yet but I can say with 100% that either they cleaned the panel to bring it back looking new or they put a new panel on this.

I had couple finger marks on this that I looked at before it went all completely gone.

Well I'm not happy.
I'm very tempted to buy this monitor but don't want to buy one just to have to arrange to have it shipped back to BenQ so they can fix their mistake.
Now I have to wait around for the ones with the fixed firmware to hit the shops. This means I'm delaying my Fury X purchase and may miss out on the pre-order price.

As always I'd rather these professional companies did the job and the QA right in the the first place rather than offer good customer support.

Why does that make you delay your Fury purchase if you are going to purchase the monitor anyway?

The situation might not be ideal, but they have done a brilliant job putting it right. New tech is always going to have teething problems.

The turn around BenQ has done here is quite simply unreal.. Customer service at its best. GM is never happy about anything really so this is right up his street to have a go. :D

Yeah fair enough BenQ could done more QA testing but these things happen. Even I think Acer Display has the same issue not sure what they have done to fix it though.

Quoting myself to add more feedback..
After using display for over 1 hour on version 002 firmware.. I can safely say I also notice better colours, even better text.. :D

Jumped on CSGO FreeSync enabled all same has before, AMA High defo makes a change I would say its like I switched of motion blur if that make sense.

Because I won't be able to use the Furys until I get the monitor.
And I just know that if I have to sit on them for a few days that there will be, for some reason a price reduction or something. If I'm using something and there's a price reduction then that's one thing, if they're sat in sealed boxes then that annoys me more.

I'd rather buy something from someone like Asus, with horrible customer support and never need to use it than to get something from Gigabyte and have to send the item back at least once.
I guess that's the other thing, now it's put the doubt in my mind that if they can miss something this obvious, what else have they missed?

See, and you used to think I was just Anti-AMD! :D

I still think it is just a better out of the box calibration with this firmware, either that or they have somehow.... made the anti glare coating lighter (far more likely to be the former though)

Any more idea on this badass or pcm2?
