BenQ XL2730Z Freesync Owners Thread

simples mate...fill out a support ticket on BenQ, bunch of info needs filling in like Serial Number, proof of purchase in the way of Invoice etc. Benq will then give you and RMA number and RepairTech then get in touch within 24 hours notifying you that DPD will pick the monitor up at a certain day. They will give you a form to fill out to stick that to the monitor. Package it up in a box for DPD, stick the RMA number on the box then they pick it and return it within a week all free of charge. Exceptional service from start to finish mate.

Thanks Tony :)

If I do order the b-grade one, I will check it first for dead pixels etc. and probably just return to ocuk as chances are if I were to send it to benq, I could miss the 14 day ccr window and + there is no guarantee that they have/do replace the panels with new ones.

If I hadn't purchased the Asus IPS one last weekend I would have purchased the BenQ in clearance at £299 with no hesitation at all. I bet there is nothing wrong with them at all apart from needing the firmware upgrade.

What was the process for returning the monitor to benq etc. like shanks etc.?

Most important thing is did they arrange for a courier to pick the screen up?

Done everything for me mate.. I filled in rma Form, got email back telling me my rma was accepted and DPD been arranged to pick up display.. Boxed it sent it back 4 days later another email with DPD delivery date..

It felt like the monitor wasn't even gone it was that quickly done lol
I wish all rma was that fast and simple..

Yeah i was thinking the same. But 200 quid saving its worth the faff but like you said hoping for no dead pixel. Btw how do you check for what firmware you got?

If it has got dead pixels and ocuk don't deem it as a fault (don't know about benq but with most other manufacturers, you generally need at least 4 dead pixels in the central area to be considered faulty) you can return it under CCR (got 14 days), however, you have to arrange a courier and pay for it out of your own pocket.

As for firmware, it is very very very very likely that they are not on the latest one which fixes the overdrive/AMA/response time setting for when freesync is active. IIRC, badass said that ocuk will be getting new stock in July, which will have the updated/latest firmware. Not sure how you can check the version.

For £200 less, it is certainly worth a gamble if you are happy to deal with the faff but like I said earlier, whilst some people have got the monitor back within a week and hint at a completely new panel, there is absolutely no guarantee as to if you will get the monitor back within a week thus possibly missing the CCR window + can't say for "definite" if panels are getting replaced with new ones until badass/PCM 2 benq contacts get back to them.

Shouldn't be much more, the main DPD depot seems to be in Athlone, I know when I get anything shipped to me in Cork it goes UK > Athlone > Cork.

I find it generally takes at least an extra day for stuff to get to me and iirc, for NI, DPD don't ship/deliver over the weekend or something like that? Been quite a while since I had anything delivered by them so not sure if things have changed....

No they don't collect or deliver over the weekend. If I order early in the day it tends to be a 2 day service to the republic.

So is the firmware issue with these all down to freesync, because I was considering picking one up to use with my new 980ti as the reviews are just so much better than gambling on ACER.

Everywhere seems to be out of stock of these now!

I was going to get one from a competitor for nearly £45 less, but I slept on it and now they're out of stock too (and the price has gone up).

:(

If it has got dead pixels and ocuk don't deem it as a fault (don't know about benq but with most other manufacturers, you generally need at least 4 dead pixels in the central area to be considered faulty) you can return it under CCR (got 14 days), however, you have to arrange a courier and pay for it out of your own pocket.

So if it has a few dead pixels and therefore OC won't swap it out, we can still return it (at our own cost) under CCR? Worth the cost given the potential dividends I think :) If it does come with dead pixels I don't think I'll take the gamble on a new panel coming via the benq rma however, probably best to send straight back to OC... unless as you say, PCM reports it's definitely a panel swap

Don't mind the faff this time because I'll be pairing it with a Fury, which is still some weeks away from being in stock.
