BenQ XL2730Z Freesync Owners Thread

How did you check for firmware?

Helpful pictures! cool

When you go to power the screen on HOLD MENU and the POWER button .... once the screen turns on press MENU button once and a info graphic comes up and the firmware version is written there somewhere under V001 or V002 string... :)

So installing the latest AMD Beta drivers solved the issues I was having with enabling Freesync and setting the refresh rate to 144hz, as I said before there is no flaw with the screen itself, it's fantastic. Right now the plan is give it a day or two and if I decide to keep the screen I'll contact BenQ to arrange the RMA as it is indeed on the V001 firmware.

I had a lot less time than I would have liked to play around with the calibration and test some games but I managed a few pics here: http://imgur.com/a/dAZnV

I should have more time tomorrow to really get into it.

That's great news :)

Mine is still sitting in the Warehouse queue :(

Damnit, just called them to see what the delay is... apparently it's too damaged and not being sent. Disappointed obviously, and also curious as to when they were intending to let me know. Oh well, I'll have to rethink :(

That's a bit unlucky! Which one are you looking at? Or going for the july batch of benq

I'd narrowed my choices down to the Benq and the Asus MG279Q - similar price on both, and I can see a NEW Benq in stock now - the B grade price made it a no-brainer, now I have to consider the pros and cons of each a little more.

Hi Guys,

A question for you regarding input lag and the BenQ XL2730Z...

According to the TFTCentral review, there is very low lag of around 4ms at 144hz with 'Instant Mode' on (and 5ms with it off).

There is also 16.22ms with instant mode 'off' at 60hz.

There is no mention of the lag at 60hz with instant mode 'on' - it is noticeably less?

The reason I ask is if you have Freesync enabled and your framerate is hovering around 60fps (therefore Freesync will be at 60hz), would you be getting is 16.22ms of lag?

Seeing am very sensitive to input lag and am yet to notice any input lag from any setting I use.

Edit 16ms is very low anyways it takes a frame running at 60fps 16ms - 30fps 33ms - 120fps 8.33

So if you was running 60fps at 16ms you be getting zero input lag that anyone should be able to feel.

Re-ordered one of these again now, picking it up on Friday, so if its a v1, you just contact BenQs support, telling them its for the v2 firmware update, and what about a proof of purchase, do you still have to include that, or does it not matter when its just for the firmware to be updated ?
