Bent CPU Pins?

Just a quick look at his ebay profile and this is my take:

A 16 year old kid. Good ebay feedback record, normally a legit person, mucks up his motherboard then picks on the OP by purchasing his with the intention of sending his muffed one back. Takes pic of his own board and gets busted by OP. Then seeks help so his spelling and grammar improve and he starts to now play the "you sent me the wrong board" shenanigans. Eventually he see's his wrong doing, and decides to send back the original board the OP sent, but obviously feels hemust deface it by ruining the pins as he originally reported, so he does in OTT fashion.

I suggest age 16 purely on a hunch, as he has bought 2 stroke oil for a 50cc scooter, which normally you would only ride if you were 16 but under 17 before you can get a 125.

I think the only way to get something out of this is to look at what others have said in this thread before, sending a "replacement" to the buyer but actually shipping fresh air in a box can work. Paypal/ebay will just see that you have sent something recorded/special delivery and then it's his word only that you shipped air in a box and you then are basically playing the buyers scamming methods in reverse right back at him. It might be worth a punt for the cost of postage. You could say you got it repaired and resent it taking pics of all the board and packaging but then ship nothing. As long as it looks good enough for him to sign for it and take delivery that could be it.

Otherwise, I have another proposal which I would rather email you about.

spot on :)

Not sure if this has any relevance or could help you in anyway,

But looking at his feedback left for others he has bought a Corsair H50 and Intel Core i3 Inside Sticker Badge Emblem as well as lots of led items...

My thoughts exactly, especially how his written language suddenly changed after I told him he had been caught, looks like he got a parent in to help or something.

At the risk of sounding like a moron, how do I edit my trust settings? Can't you guys see my email?

Thanks for all the support guys. From what I can gather from yesterdays visit to the Police station, if eBay don't end up doing anything and I am forced to issue a refund I will have to take this to he courts. I really hope eBay do actually listen this time and it doesn't come to that. I have yet to hear back from them though.

On my way to the Citizens Advice Bureau now though to see what they have to say.

SARRAPH, can you not go down the route of exchanging the item? im sure you do have that option on your ebay account? then just send a box of crap recorded delivery?? pics for the lulz?

as for trust you just have to click it and fill in the info i think for it to be turned on?

Ah yes I see it now, I thought it was in the CP or something :p

To be honest, ever since his writing style has changed I got the feeling I was speaking to a parent or something.

I do not really want to go down to his level and start trying to scam him back, that could just cause more problems, I want to win this fair and square. Maybe as a last resort if nothing happens about it I might do something.

your at the stage where you HAVE to choose a refund or replacement though mate, of you dont ebay will just refund him themselves then seek reimbursement from you later on.

Sorry to hear about all this. I've been reasonably fortunate as i'm not had too many instances of people playing silly.

If he's 16 and living at home, a well mannered handwritten letter to the address spelling out you concerns might fall in to the hands of a parent, who may have some sense.

In the only bad instance of this happening I purchased something which I was then told was out of stock but they won't refund me. I basically did as above having found out the kid had registered a website using his dads details to sell item from this website via paypal and ebay listings. Needless to say dad wasn't too happy when he received a phone call asking arkward questions about some computer gear he was selling... within 30min refund given so i managed to get out without a loss (other than my time)

Serraph I emailed your trust email about this. When you reply, be careful because the reply address from trust forwarded messages usually defaults to [email protected] or something like that, so you have to manually select the email address that it says it came from in the text and then reply that way.

+1
End Thread.

You don't end my thread!!

Like I said before I do not want to answer a scam with a scam, that would just cause more problems. Plus I have taken this too far to simply say I'm accepting it now and offering a replacement. Plus it would have to be the same size and weight so I would still be down £10!

I just got back from the Citizens Advice Bureau, but again as they are just advisers thy didn't really want the full details. I told him the basic story and that I have evidence, and he essentially said that if it turns out for the worst and I have to refund him and accept this broken board, I would have to go to a lawyer/solicitor and perhaps go through the courts. As he didn't see the pics he didn't give any opinion as to whether there is a case for criminal damage or not.

To be honest I just wanted someone to sit down and listen to me while I go through it all, looking at all the evidence I have gathered, and tell me if I have a case or not. I suppose that is what the lawyer/solicitors will do, but I cant afford money and time wise to go that route right now. I am right in the middle of exam period and I have a ton of work to do.

He said there were one or two I should call today, but to be honest I don't have time. I think I'm going to wait for eBay's final decision, as essentially it does all rest on that as to whether this goes further, and pray that they see sense and allow me to keep the money. If not then there was a drop in session on Tuesday I might go to for a community law service.

When I went to a solicitors about an employment contract dispute they gave me 30mins free consultation to decide whether its worth their time.

Yeah the guy said that they do have free sessions like that, which I suppose is good, but I really don't have the time right now, I have too much work to do. If eBay don't let me keep the money, then I suppose I'll have to, but I think I'll just wait for their verdict. Ultimately that is what everyone has told me so far, if they don' side with me again, then take it further.
