Bent CPU Pins?

He has photos that the buyer sent claiming to show the damage, which clearly showed another motherboard! Proof that he acted dishonestly there

I don't think the police will be interested in taking this up for you as it is more of a consumer matter which small claims court would settle for you. I would take your evidence down to your local citizens advice bureau and see what they say. You may be able to bring a claim against him if you can prove without doubt that the damage has been done by the buyer.

Depends how strongly you feel about it really.

To me it looks like he knows he has been caught and figured that there is no other option but to send me my board back, but as it is supposed to be damaged, he'll take a screw driver to it out of rage and mangle it beyond belief!

Thing is, as well as having all the evidence we had beforehand showing he is a dishonest scammer, the pic he sent me does not match with my original, or with this one. Plus, my photo shows that it was in perfect condition before, so it would make no sense for me to mangle it before selling, as it would clearly cause problems like this.

I am stunned beyond belief at how this guy thinks he can get away with it. I really need to finish my work and start some revision, but I'm thinking I might just go to the Police station today. Just need to find it, the one I know of is being re-built, and Google maps is being annoying.

say your sending a replacement out and send a box of fresh air recorded delivery, you should be ok aslong as you have a tracking number, does this guy live far away? where abouts is he?

Is there anyone on here doing a legal degree/already a solicitor? You could get them to help you write a letter to send to him, saying you are taking him to court, unless he pays you x amount for the damage!
Call his bluff!

You might want to re -take the photo of the damage
This time use the same angle that the buyer used, your one is 90deg different
This might make it easier to complain to ebay with or for evidence if you contact the pigs

Good luck mate

Wow - what a horrible experience for you. Sad to see that ebay have been utterly useless when it's obvious that the guy was trying to rip you off. There's no way they've actually bothered looking into this at all.

I hope there's some way of the OP being able to resolve this.

All the best,

Rich

Jesus, it's obvious he knows he's been caught but it obviously too dumb to realise he sent you pics or the "original dmg" and now the board look like two completely different ones. Hope you get it sorted and goes in your favour!

Well, went to the Police, but seemed like as soon as they heard it was about eBay they didn't want to know and referenced me to get a solicitor for a civil case or whatever. They didn't see the pics I printed off as they seemed to just want to get rid of me, but I kept explaining it all and saying how it is now completely destroyed and useless. The guy did go off to check with 2 other people though, including 'the sarge upstairs', but apparently there is no evidence to suggest there has been criminal damage, and referred me to the Citizens Advice Bureau.

I figured that they will be more likely to listen as they have half our drop in sessions, more than enough time to actually go through it all properly, and if it does turn out there is a case for criminal damage I'm sure they will reference me to the police themselves or something and they will actually act on it. By the time I got there though it was closed as it shuts at 2pm, so I'm just going to have to go there tomorrow.

I cant believe how useless people are being though, especially the police. I did say I have photos to prove he has damaged it. There was also a girl in there complaining about an officer who didn't seem to care when she reported something as well, so perhaps they are not taking as much notice of things as they should. This is a real downer though. I just want someone with authority to actually listen to the whole story, look at the facts, and say yes you are right. Hopefully the Citizens Advice Bureau will do this!

The guy in question is eBay user: ptgurn_123. Avoid this user! Or at least make life difficult for him at any opportunity!

Serraph can you configure your trust please I would like to email you something about this. I feel so gutted for you and I can understand how frustrating things like this are.

Just a quick look at his ebay profile and this is my take:

A 16 year old kid. Good ebay feedback record, normally a legit person, mucks up his motherboard then picks on the OP by purchasing his with the intention of sending his muffed one back. Takes pic of his own board and gets busted by OP. Then seeks help so his spelling and grammar improve and he starts to now play the "you sent me the wrong board" shenanigans. Eventually he see's his wrong doing, and decides to send back the original board the OP sent, but obviously feels hemust deface it by ruining the pins as he originally reported, so he does in OTT fashion.

I suggest age 16 purely on a hunch, as he has bought 2 stroke oil for a 50cc scooter, which normally you would only ride if you were 16 but under 17 before you can get a 125.

I think the only way to get something out of this is to look at what others have said in this thread before, sending a "replacement" to the buyer but actually shipping fresh air in a box can work. Paypal/ebay will just see that you have sent something recorded/special delivery and then it's his word only that you shipped air in a box and you then are basically playing the buyers scamming methods in reverse right back at him. It might be worth a punt for the cost of postage. You could say you got it repaired and resent it taking pics of all the board and packaging but then ship nothing. As long as it looks good enough for him to sign for it and take delivery that could be it.

Otherwise, I have another proposal which I would rather email you about.
