BF V(5) MP CPU ulilization

Thanks for taking the time Gav! Really great result I would say. 4 core CPU seems to start showing weakness on the test but it's not too bad I would say.
And cache frequency doesn't help much going from 4400 to 5000

Thanks ^^

For those interested, here are the results at 1440P

Average framerate : 111.4 FPS
Minimum framerate : 80.2 FPS
Maximum framerate : 144.9 FPS
1% low framerate : 76.7 FPS
0.1% low framerate : 26.9 FPS

Indeed, changing the cache frequency does pretty much nothing.
Ringbus is safe ;)

Really helpful, thanks for taking the time to collect all of that @gavinh87. Also interesting to see the comparisons between memory speeds too - currently running 1866 in my system but have been offered some 2666 pretty cheap, wondering if it's worth it now...

This is the only game where I've seen my GPU utilisation hit 100%! Running 3440 UW my 1060 isn't doing too badly tbh at Medium settings, hitting 55fps+. Dropped the resoltion a tad and hitting 62+ now which is pretty smooth tbf :)

@BTVA I am happy with this processor at stock clock speed of 3.7ghz gives me 1759 and the 8700k that gets the same score has to be overclocked over 5 ghz.

The reason why i am happy is because the multi thread performance of the 2700x smashes the 8700k when both 2700x and 8700k are at stock clock ghz speeds and also amd will support am4 until 2020, so i will be upgrading most likely when it is 2020 with their last batch of am4 processors.

Ryzen 1600 @ 3.9Ghz
16GB DDR4 @ 3000Mhz CL16
GTX 1070 +100/+400

Maximum Settings 1080P, OSD is nice and large, easy to read.

This game is very hard on both the CPU and GPU, CPU usage can go as high as 80% on all 12 threads, there is some odd GPU utilisation dipping into the 80's% but they only last a second and don't seem to make a difference to the frame rates, i don't know what that is but the game has issues, audio dropouts and occasional lag, whatever is causing that may be what's causing the 1 second dips in the GPU utilisation.

I'm a little surprised to see sub 100 FPS on a GTX 1070 at 1080P but times move on i guess, can't expect this GPU to eat games up for ever.

If anyone wants me to do specific testing let me know, i'll see what i can do.

On a personal note about the game, i think its a bit meh, its also still BF plagued by camping snipers, i don't think i'll buy this one.

@lltfdaniel okay good glad to hear you are happy with your rig. Any chance we could see how your chip perform in this game?
Average framerate : ?
Minimum framerate : ?
Maximum framerate : ?
1% low framerate : ?
0.1% low framerate : ?

Just to keep it relevant to the thread?

No i don't have anything relevant anyways i have 2 things to say.

How did you get to play the game and second please ignore me rather having the thread derailed.

Well, fortunately, we don't usually class Cinebench as the be-all and end-all when it comes to measuring in-game performance then :p

Glad you're happy with your system though - definitely looks like this game is very hungry on both fronts.

^^^^ Yeah but its a bit boring :p
----------

I posted a Ryzen 1600 a few posts up guys, on a better GPU a Ryzen 2000 6 cores + will probably get about 20% higher performance given the clock speed and IPC improvements.

Look i'm getting an average of about 80 FPS, 90% of that is tied to GPU Performance.

Ryzen is NOT as good a gaming CPU as an 8700K but it seems with a 1600 i'm getting pretty good performance in a game that clearly is very hard on the CPU, about to the limits of what my overclocked GTX 1070 can manage at 1080P.

That's all that matters really, if you have any requests let me know.

@humbug Can you play same map same class same duration with SMT disabled and see how it does?

About the game play, I play sniper most of the time, I find it pretty satisfying tbh, my kill per minute when I play assault (with automatico BF1) is actually lower than when I play some good sniper guns LOL

Oh absolutely, sorry I didn't mean for it to sound like I was bashing Ryzen's performance - just thought the Cinebench willy waving was a bit off topic!

I'm impressed with the numbers you're getting, it's great to see games that are finally able to make use of the higher core counts - mind if I ask what OSD you are using?
