BF V(5) MP CPU ulilization

This could be the beginning of the end got my 4770k / 8GB DDR3 2133MHz PC... Ive not run into any problems before in achieving a smooth 60fps on highish settings with my 390x (which is now dead anyway).

I am pleasantly surprised that I get a very constant 60fps on Medium settings at 1080p with my AMD 4770k/ 8GB DDR3 2133MHz and AMD 280 (basically a 7950). Very playable and looks just fine too! It might be a different story if I was upping the settings...

It's using about 50% on an R7 1700 at 3.8Ghz, and keeping to 60~70 fps maxed out at 1080p on an overclocked GTX970 or 100~120fps (since I have a 144hz monitor) if I lower all of the graphical settings apart from textures, not bad at all honestly.

Using a temporary 780 it runs between 30 and 50fps avg @ ultra . with everything on low inc textures I get close to a 60 avg . doesn't seem massively scalable to me

There is a massive difference reported on FPS even with people on similar hardware. Makes me wonder if the people claiming higher are playing on a low populated server or sniping from afar. If you are running round with explosions etc going off that will tank the frame rate.

Yeah I'm a run and gun sniper by choice . so always in amongst the action and splosions . picks up a little in a plane tipping beyond 60fps but on ground its a dip fest although I had no stutters like I did on the alphas

Yeah - that's why I stated the route I used when recorded the benchmark so others can compare (I even put a video up of it before). Having said that, explosions right in front of me only sees a dip of about 10fps, so maybe some gfx cards/cpus/resolutions are affected more than others.

seems like games and apps have now been starting to push bandwidth limit much more than before, with Intel I have seen reviews reporting up to 39% more fps when overclocking the ram from 2133 to 4000.
For example:
2133 to 3200 causes 20-25% increase, 2133 to 3600 causes 26-31% increase and 2133 to 4000 causes 32-39% increase in average and min fps.

Although timing is still pretty loose since the ram is hynix C-die, good b-die should do 3600mhz 15-15-15-35-1T and 4000mhz 17-17-17-34-1T pretty easily.
This makes me wonder what a good setup with good b-die + single dimm board + good CPu really can achieve. Something like 5.4Ghz core 5Ghz cache and 4400Mhz 18-18-18-36-1T tight would be amazing :D

everyone always looks at the highest frame and average but never the min FPS :(
tend to push 8 packs 4000 kit because of it - give you a large scope . Shows why Intel always caps their B/H boards to lower ram speeds but unfortunately, most people don't have the budget to stretch for fast ram :(

The video linked below is the actual benchmark here, its 13 minutes of Gameplay on a full 64 man server, its not camping away from the action, its me playing the game as anyone would, Highest Fidelity 1080P.

Average framerate : 78.4 FPS
Minimum framerate : 46.3 FPS (caused by Sutter, actual is 55 FPS) see reasons below.
Maximum framerate : 123.1 FPS
1% low framerate : 21.3 FPS (mmmm no, because i was recording it?)
0.1% low framerate : 2.0 FPS (lol)

Couple of things to note about that, the 46 FPS min didn't seem right to me, i never saw that in the game and i know all it takes is one stutter glitch to knock out a result like that, so i had a look for it, sure enough its the result of a lag stutter at 3:26, its the only time it happened, however i want to know what the actual Minimum Frame rates are, so i watched the FPS counter back in the video for 13 minutes :D there are two or three occasions where the frame rates go as low as 55 FPS without any stutter. so that's what i'm going with.
The 1% and 0.1% lows, yeah again that never registered on the counter which updates once a second, so i'm putting those down to stutter, perhaps writing to disk from recording it?

Again this is the run from that benchmark, unlike a lot of large reviewers i have provided the data for you to scrutinise.

PS: for most of it my GPU is the bottleneck, i'm thinking about a 720P run.

But they have more than enough money pushing for not worthy boards like Gigacrap, MSI goatlike, mAxIMuS FoRMula/exTRemE, etc ;) with black pcb B-die sticks, the board is the limit not the ram

7700k maxing on all 8 threads getting upto a toasty 80 degrees!!

Might need to replace air cooler with liquid AIO:eek:

That's nothing unusual with BF games now, even with hyper-threading 4 core CPU's are not what they once were, time for an upgrade to something with more cores.

Are we finally reaching the promised land of:

"just wait, when devs start optimising for more cores that **insert high core count, older cpu here*** will be amazing"

The one that random forums peeps have been talking about for years now.
