I bought mine with upgrading the reason to go with EVGA........as you say tho'
If I can't upgrade to the 8800 then never again will I buy EVGA.

When you think about it, all cards are in limited supply when they get released so basically you can't use the step-up program.....EVER

The latest cards are aways in short supply at least 90 days after buying a current card to the new ones being widely available

It seems to me it's more like a side-step program

reckon X1900XT or 7900GTX prices will nosedive because of this?

Nope, as has been said many times, no price drops at all, i don't know why everyone thinks that on the 8th of November all DX9 cards are going to be 50p, and they all have self destruct timers built in to explode on that date, high end DX9 cards have a year left yet, DX10 isnt worth having for a year. :D

LMFAO, yea, ill get a few IceQ cards and a few Master cards.

Yummy :p

Like most end of life stuff the prices will stay at the same level now because supply will go down. The only potential real saving on DX9 cards will be in a year/18months time on the second hand market as by then not many people (well, gamers anyway) will want to buy a DX9 only card.

Having said that, by then someone not interested in leading edge games etc will get some stonking bargins - GX2 for £100 anyone? ;)

Isn't there a new series of ATi cards coming out nearing Christmas? I'm pretty sure they're meant to top the G80 series .

Any news on them? Because I'm so much more tempted with one of those than a 8800 gts/gtx.

Think they are due around Feb. Not heard a lot about them to be honest though, maybe ATI will announce specs as the G80s appear to try to persuade people to hang on (assuming the R600 is a better card).

Well, I'm half way through the process of building my new rig and I'm not sure what to do because of DX10 so close, plus the new range of cards.

For now I would really like an x1950 but I don't wanna be spending lots now only to be spending more early next year.

Ive got 4 Nvidia 8800GTX's coming in the next couple of weeks, accompanied by a 1500W PSU, to test out some SLI, on one of the new Nvidia SLI Intel boards

Will make sure I get the results up to you all like. :)

lol you love winding them up lololol

Yes, plus it does make perfect sense, why release a DX10 card now, makes no sense at all to me, it cant be used yet so why bother, if they are that bad at availability on launch, then why not delay it till they get good stocks, they aint losing out on nothing, DX10 can't be used till Vista, and they already have the fastest card out at the mo namely the GX2, and the R600 aint due till around Feb when Vista hits, so as i say nowt to lose from putting the date back a bit till they can get enough for availability.
