BFG 8800 GTX/GTS arriving at OcUK soon and some images for you all!!

You've only got to look at EVGA's prices to see the cost of the non existent step up program is built into the cost. :(

If this turns out to be true, vote with your feet people. Make sure people on Xtreme forums etc are aware of this scam too.

Wow. That could turn ugly for EVGA if it is true.

Comments from OCUK? I recall they where announcing the EVGA step up program as great news a while back here.

 :(

Qoute Gibbo: One of the great aspects of EVGA is the 90 day step up programme. Basically when you purchase a card from OcUK it will come with a coupon in the box and with this you have 90 days from date of purchase to upgrade your product to any other product in EVGA's range. This is something you do directly with EVGA, not the reseller!

Customers have been seriously mislead here. If Gibbo used official information from EVGA then surely customers could sue EVGA. Or Gibbo has missunderstood EVGA and provided misleading information.
Who ever is to blame lessons need to be learnt.

Any chance you can post so we can understand what your talking about next time, thanx :)
Hey it was late and a bad edit. No need for that. I'm generally coherent, dependent upon the alcohol level. At least I can sober up...

Oh ok, sorry to be a bit snappy.

On topic. I've posted several times on the eVGA forum and they're deleting any posts related to this very subject.

so you can't step-up to the G80 as its a next gen card, wonder how many ppl bought the GX2's to do just that, that sucks. :(
To be fair, if they bought a GX2 then they already have 8800GTX level performance for less cost. The only thing missing is DX10 compatability, and I'm sure most people won't miss it once they see it in action.

It's a shame so many people have been fleeced out of a step-up, but when you compare costs those people have actually saved a lot of dough here.

Not good. Does everyone remember when XFX got their 7900GTs banished from OcUK because of their nightmare customer service? I can almost envision a repeat episode here.

If we start seeing these cards @ £400 quid the GTX version, then I belive theres some hope there.

One could technicaly sell there 7800/7900/X1800/X1900/ or even there 7950 for about £100-£300ish and get a decent upgrade that doesnt ripp the wallet completly.

Maybe OcUK will listen to how unhappy us UK/Irish customers are about being ripped off compared to the rest of the world, and charge a "fair" price.

on the subject of the step up programme.

evga.com stepup terms and conditions

the relevent parts

EVGA retains the right to revoke or revise the EVGA Step-Up™ Service at will. If so, participants shall be informed through the EVGA website without notice of any such change.

Unreleased or future products may not become available or have limited availability for the Step-up™ Program. In the event of limited availability, product will be distributed on a first come first serve basis at the sole discretion of EVGA.

in other words .......if they want to say no you cant have a 8800...they are within thier rights to do so.

such is the way of these things ......hardly anything that seems to good to be true is as it seems, always read the small print.

Possibly, but not after 3 weeks after launch ;)

Ocuk Staff need money for hot dates :D

HI there

Or Superchargers! :p

Our pricing will be fair on a serious note or at least similar to other Etailors who ACTUALLY have product in stock. Obviously from a business point of view were not gonna give cards away when supply is so limited and we already have the demand there to sell the stock were getting.

We have BFG GTX and GTS product due to arrive with us this Friday/Monday so when 8th comes along we shall have product available off the shelf. GTX pricing will be in the £460-£500 region including VAT at 17.5% which makes our pricing not that much higher compared to US prices which are approx $800 + Taxes.

£460 to £500 sounds okay to me, when you consider VAT, UK price-hike, and limited availability.

For those that don't want to pay this much for a video card, you can (as many of you seem so fond of telling everyone) simply wait for the inevitable reductions in price.

Can you tell us what the cooling options for the BFG cards are like because I have seen some with the "hybrid" air+water cooling blocks built in. Got any pics of the BFG GTX ?
