The amount of 'X'800/'X'900/'X'750 type cards thats are gonna be in the For sales forums rofl :p

I bet u the 8800GTS is gonna be the dark one... its proberly gonna be faster then most cards perhaps 7950 level? and if its £300-350

My x1800 XT won't, had it since launch, and it still cuts through everything today maxed out at 1280x1024 (TFT), all that money for a few more frames in DX9, no thanks, if anyone wants more frames in DX9 from an x1800 etc... then just buy an x1900/7900 GTX, as its the same, you'll get a few more frames in DX9, but won't cost you £500, oh but then theres the DX10 which supposedly no ones buying em for, but as i said thats a load of tosh as if that wasn't the case, then you would just buy the next model up from yours e.g 7900 GTX to 7950 GX2 = few more frames in DX9, so saying 'im not getting it for DX10' is a load of gonads im sorry. :p

I admittedly intend to buy one purely for DX10. I bought a cheap 6600GT back in September when I upgraded and have been waiting ever since for the G80 to come out to complete my upgrade. However, given that it has been this long I might just hold out to see what the R600 has to offer. I like to keep my components for two to three years so it seemed best to wait for the next generation back in September.

Man its just a new gen gfx card.

Still don't know why you are obsessing over it being DX 10.

Buying it for better IQ? :p

Your right a lot of folk are gonna buy it for Vista/DX10 hype, we see it every year here anyhow this is just another Shader Model 2.0 vs Shader Model 3.0 tosh with more shiny stones in farcry which I dont think anyone even saw at the end of the day.

But its still progress and for the better, a lot of people will soon be debating why spend £230-330 on a highend card like the X19XX/79XX cards when I can now get an Geforce 8800 GTS 640meg DX10 Shader Model 4.0 card for a bit more or the same cost ?

Indeed,

Why buy a GX2 now for £370 £100 more gets you Xfire ,Sli performance which means higher levels of AA and AF and the ability to up the res.

For me this new cards gotta have the goodies though id be on Loadsamoneys boat if it turned out the Geforce 8800 series didnt offer better IQ and the ability to use AA/AF a lot more higher/better quality with less performance drop.

Well yeah if can you can get one for not much more than a GX2 now, then obviously get one, but when the price drops to that, no point lashing out £500 on it next wednesday, just wait a bit for the availabilty to come good, and the prices to drop, won't kill you will it. :)

You'll all be throwing your toys out of yer prams if it goes in the 'This Week Only', and the price drops after about 2 weeks or summit, look what happened to the x1900's, there was hell on, released on Monday, everyone buying em up, then 3 days later they were in 'This Week Only'. a lot of ppl were not happy then.

I just think its a bit silly telling people to not buy top end gear on an enthusiast site. Stray just slightly away from ocuk and most of us will be accused of insanity let alone victims of hype! If the Geforce 8 is anything like the jump from 6 to 7, than I think spending £500 is nothing out of the ordinary.

If you had computer illiterate console noobs buying the 8800s then I'd be probably be worried, but as long as its us nutheads doing it, all is good. :p

When the price drops there will be another card getting released.

People don't wanna wait.

So just leave it please.

Why do you care who spends 500 on a gfx card?

And quite frankly its none of your business anyway :p ;)

I don't care, and its none of your eithers, stop telling ppl not to buy a card now, as you said ppl don't wanna wait, if they wanna buy a GX2 etc... leave em to it, none of your business, stop telling them not to, and to get a G80. ;)

We're looking at greater than 7900GTX SLI performance from one card, I for one will be picking up 2 GTX's on release and I couldn't care less if the price drops. I make my decisions and stick by them, price drops happen, doesn't even remotely annoy me.
