No one knows as no one knows the specs, all anyone knows is its called R600, thats it. :)

How anyone can say the name R600 will trounce the G80 from the top spot is beyond me, is it because its a bigger number, lets say Nvidias refresher is gona be called the G601, oh look bigger number, its going to trounce the R600 and take it off the top spot.

OK fair enough.

But with pricing of the GTS being what it is.Even if there is a small gap then whats the point in buying a GX2 now?

I suppose it all depends on the pricing which we do not know yet, all everyone says is its going to match the GX2 for price, yet how many times have we all heard that before, and then seen cards come out that are £100+ more expensive, and nothing like the prices that were bandied about, until we see it in stock and a price no one knows.
 
I said the GX2 pwned with tongue in cheek - jeez I really can't believe that people are getting all uppity defending a card that isn't even released yet.

The GX2 is the fastest card using a single PCI_E out atm so its natural to compare any card to that. Whether it has 2 gpu's, 2 pcb's or what ever makes little difference tbh - its the fastest end of story , squabbling about it won't change that fact.

The G80's look damn nice but predicting how fast its going to perform is nigh on impossible imo as it is new architecture using new software. I couldn't care less if its 10 times faster than a GX2 as there is barely anything out there that the GX2 or xfire setup cant cope with at this moment in time. All this 'Vista uses DX10' is carp. Would you really buy a new £400+ grafix card to run an OS? Vista runs fine with dx9 hardware. The only time I feel the need to upgrade a GFX card is when games demand it and for the time being that isn't the case.

I am looking forward to the new hardware and the benchmarks they will provide. These are trully exciting times. I just wish people wouldn't get carried away with the hype, instead they should wait until the results are confirmed from reliable sources before stating how much more one component will 'beat' another.
 
Thats not the point, G80 is the new gen, the new gen brigade say no DX9 cards, its new gen no exceptions, if the new cards are £400, and the DX9 cards are down to £200, no difference, they aint new gen, DX9 cards are pointless, they aint worth buying, its new gen no exceptions, do not buy pointless DX9 cards, wether there is just an OS to use on them in DX10 or not just doesn't make a difference either, fact is our DX9 cards are old gen in 5 days time, we have to accept it, no one should be buying old gen DX9 cards anymore when new gen is here, just accept it like me, and the new gen brigade will leave you alone.

Just read back through this thread and you will see, DX9 cards are a no no now, its pointless trying as they are just relentless, they will not give it up, has to be new gen from now on, we all know the GX2, x1900's etc... can, and will cut through every game for the next year, even that is not the point, you start a thread about buying an x1900/7900 GTX/GX2 and wait, you will soon see why its pointless, they do not care that they are cheaper, and will cut through everything for the next year as said, its new gen, take it or leave it. :D

Anyone who posts about buying a DX9 card after the 8th November, i feel sorry for you. :(

who said anything about trouncing? by blowing it off top spot i didn't mean blasted into oblivion, sheesh you gotta be careful about anything you say in this place sometimes. :(

anyone who thinks that IS dillusional.

maybe you should go out and have a beer mate, it's friday night and you're touchy as hell over a discussion
 
Just a thought, Gibbos gona have to change the shop site, as it says graphics cards, and also has loads of old gen Dx9 cards in there, from next wed it needs to say graphics card, and only have a G80 in there. :D
