Lastly before I go I ran some Gothic 3.

With a 7800GTX 256mb @ 1600x1200 and every in game setting maxed with in game AF set @ 4x......I was getting from 14 to 26 fps, averaging around 17 to 21 fps.

With the 8800GTX @ 1600x1200 and max in game settings with max in game AF @ 16x........... I'm getting lowest 35/40 fps, tops 80fps with a steady average around 60/70 fps :D

This was a new install of Gothic 3 and I was just fighting the first Orc wave in town then I ran around the landscape for a while and monitored fps via fraps. Pretty pleased/impressed with preformance increase over the 7800GTX 256mb so far.

Edit; LOL Aquamark finishes in about 5 seconds and scores 163,034 - GFX 31,995 and CPU 16,618.

Anyone who posts about buying a DX9 card after the 8th November, i feel sorry for you. :(
I'll be buying a 8800GTX as a DX9 card and you annoy me, you always seem to be spouting off about how it's pointless to get an 8800 card without giving any other reason other than it's pointless because DX10 is useless for the short term.

Many people will be buying G80 based cards because they are the fastest thing around now for DX9, not because they are DX10 compatible (although it's a nice bonus for when DX10 finally becomes relevant), anyone buying it for DX10 alone must not be fully informed/has fell for the hype or is just ignorant to the facts.

but the gx2 is 2 ruddy cards at the end of the day...This is a single stand alone card not 2 straped 2getha.

they can slap in 8 gpus together if they want to but if it only interfaces with the motherboard via 1 pci-e slot then its counted as a single card.

Since we are all 'bench' talking, how well do you think the 8800GTX will overclock for 24/7 use? Will it be another case of clocking a GTS to GTX performance and or speeds? With the new architecture of the G80 will it be diff overclocking the cards (I.E core clock V.S shader clocks ect..) this time around?

6:00 pst time puts me at 3:00  I wonder if etailers in the U.S will actually put them up for sale @ 3:00am Weds morning :p I really wanted to sleep a little longer than that..

80nm wouldnt supprise me
having 600 million+ transistors would make them have to use the lower fabrication i would have thought
And it drops the wattage and temps. Just haven't see it mentioned before, thought they'd save that one for the 8900.

Rumour is the refreshes might be 45nm, but it is just a rumour and that's why I don't have a link to it nor do I even believe it. ATI/AMD have confirmed 45nm GPUs for the near future though, it was on DailyTech, so it's only natural that Nvidia would respond in kind.
