BFG RMA question

It's finally here! After nearly 4 weeks, Fedex made the delivery a day ahead of schedule. :)

I was told I was getting a 8800 GTS OC, and here it is...

Funny looking 8800 I must admit, but it's slightly better anyway I suppose. Certainly not worth the long wait though.

SNAP lol

By the way, the sticker is coming off my card too, and it has very slight scuff marks on the end, but that doesn't bother me, as long as it runs fine. Have yet to plug it in.

I guess it isn't a big deal at all really, I was just being a whinging git earlier (p'd off the other half too, she told me to shut and stop being a grumpy b****** lol) I took it back out and gave the fan housing a clean with some cd cleaner....funnily enough most of what I thought was scuffs came off. Put some more glue on the sticker and would you believe it, the annoying buzz from the fan stopped (sticker must have been flapping about) clocked it to the same mhz as the OC version and its fine. Just glad that I can finally finish Batman now so I got my happy face on! I think the couple of beers helped too :) Anyway, congrats on your replacement mate!

I've installed it, and ran a game for just a few mins, seems to be running fine.

Although, I must have knocked the battery when I installed it because the BIOS was reset, back to stock CPU. :(

Almost 4 weeks?

Hope mine doesnt take that long, ive not received the info saying it shipped yet.

Sorry to put a negative input but my RMA has been 4 weeks today and still it has not even been shipped!

The US warehouse are on the slow side, not only did they shut for a week for a refit or something, they are denying UK stock to companies here due to back log of at least a month! Sure you and everyone else will get the replacement, but it is not going to be soon. Honestly you might want to buy another cheaper card as a loan sake and sell it; sure you will lose out a little depending on the card you buy. I have purchased a new 4850 at 70 pounds and will sell it for around 60 if not more on a bidding site.

I hear they pass on "passed" graphics cards to other RMA's *tut-tut* You are right to be annoyed but the long wait probably also makes you not want to bother again lol... i understand your place.

Glad to hear you have something anyway

Im running a 3870x2 at the mo so covered in that respect, the guy on the phone in Wales though reckoned it might be about a week tops.

Posted my 8800 GTX (OC2 model) to the Wales depot the friday before last, and they already have a card on it's way to me.

The RMA updates says it should be with me on Wednesday.

Hoping the replacement isn't to bashed about or anything, plus an equal to or slightly better model than I've sent.

After what I've seen here tho, my hopes aren't to high.

I hear for the GTX you get a 260 in return at this moment in time due to the stock of 8800 and 9800. They dont like to give too high of a card which is why they made me wait, and others (with GTX) were sent out with better cards/equal cards on time. I had a 8800 512 OC. Thing is they told me I would be looking at 250's but apparently not in stock either. I was told they have 260's but how true it is, I don't know, I would just be glad you are getting a replacement soon.

Cheers, I guess I was a bit annoyed but all in all just glad to be able game at playable framerates again. I know the 9800gtx isn't fantastic now but it's still pretty good for what I've got installed on here. I was thinking about getting a new monitor & gfx card but there's not much point right now, may aswell wait and see what the Fermi's are like.

I'm honestly not sure what to make of this post. The guy RMA'd a broken 8800GTS OC and he got a working 9800GTX in return.

Is it the measure of how legendary BFG's replacement policy has become that people are now disappointed when they get a card that's just better (not massively better) than the one they RMA'd?

If you do a search on jeff.kozlowski posts you'll see he utterly refutes that they ship anything other than new cards for RMA's. I've had new cards, straight from the box with loose stickers and the 'scratches' that were supposedly on the back on the complainants card appear to be thermal compound or something similar that wiped off.

I've seen all sorts of negative stuff posted in this thread and yet there are still very many more people posting that they are massively pleased with the result of sending a card back to BFG than those complaining that they've waited a few weeks too long or didn't get a top of the range one back when they RMA'd a mid-range card.

I am not lying about the hush-hush of passed cards being given as RMA so long as the "passed" card does not go back to the customer, I am sure Jeff would not tell you that at all!

Negative? sure waiting a month for nothing but lies from the department waiting for hours is surely negative. People being replaced with better cards is a great thing, but it all depends how good compared to the service in waiting time, email reply, telephone service.

It is the companies role to keep a customer happy. I just hope they make me happy. So far I am unhappy.

...

In regards to the shape of the card, they should all be new and not refurbished as far as I am aware of. Not exactly sure what you are smelling  And sometimes the cards to get scratched in transit and whatnot, there really isn't a whole lot we can do about that. Many times, they show up here like that. Maybe just weak plastic, not sure though...

In my case, I was annoyed at how long it took, considering some people received cards back in days. And the constant, it will be sent out tomorrow, or in a few days, only to be told the same thing a week later. If BFG had sent me a 285 OC like a few other lucky people, than that would have out weighed the long wait. But I wouldn't demand such a card because other people have received them.

And with regards to Jeff's quote, the key words there are "should" and "as I am aware of", it's not a definitive answer, not that I care, as long as the card works, refurb or not.

Im pretty sure some of the cards at least are refurbs, suppose it all comes down to stock levels. The antistatic bag i got my 295 in was pink and had 2 stickers on it saying "tested" and an engineers initials, that to me would say refurb.

I would like an apology WJA96, I dont lie, I may suspect, but when I am 100% I state the truth!

Like when I was unsure about Jeff, I said so, I never said "he doesn't work for them"

No hard feelings anyway...

Just for all you peeps, I am in med school and getting somewhere in life, for all I care now, my card can simply never come to me, I purchased a 4850 (all I can afford now).

I'm not sure what you want an apology for, as all you have done is made uncorroborated statements that directly counter what has been said by a member of staff from BFG, and supported by the fact that someone who bought a supposedly working RMA card from Member's Market reckons it shouldn't have come in a pink Antistatic bag, but if it makes you happy, then consider this an apology.

You said (and now you say it's 100%) that BFG technicians are testing RMA cards and if they pass testing then they are sending them out to other customers who RMA cards. You have produced no evidence to support this whatsoever. You may wish to retract that statement in future.

No hard feelings anyway...

No, absolutely not.

Just for all you peeps, I am in med school and demonstrating the superior attitude they instill in medical students, for all I care now, my card can simply never come to me, I purchased a 4850 (all I can afford now).

Everyone is getting somewhere in life. Different people get to different places at different times but they all have a role in life. You might notice if no-one takes your waste away, or grows the food you eat, or plumbs-in the water supply you drink from, makes the gauze, stainless steel, stethoscopes, MRI machines or anything else you aspire to use in your day-job or even sells you the graphics card you game with.

As someone who whiled away 8 years at university jointly funded by the Admiralty, the Danny Marshall Scholarship fund and my parents I can assure you that all the qualifications in the world don't get you anywhere. What you do with those qualifications and the respect you earn from the way you interact with human beings is what gets you somewhere in life.

On the OcUK forums there are people from all walks of life and generally it's a nice place where positive contribution is respected.

Thank you so much for clarifying!!

Clarifying what exactly? All i have is an opinion of the situation, its unusual to see a pink antistatic bag but for all i know thats just what the rma dept has on hand. Doesn't necessarily mean that the cards a refurb.

Can anyone tell me if i need to register the replacement card i have received as my RMA return? or will they have a record of it (i will keep the old receipt!)

your replacement card replaces the original card that you registered,so no you do not need to register it;)
