BFG RMA question

Just got my GTX 8800 OC2 back today, same model also which I'm fine with, as it will only end up being a PhysX card or sat in a family PC.

Quick turn around which was nice after hearing of some of the issues had by people in this thread.

The card looks like a refurbished card. It smells like it's been cleaned in some sort of solution, but not completely cleaned. As there are some signs of dirt and grime still on it. It also has the tested and inspected stickers on the bag.

I haven't tested to see if it works as of yet tho.

Its weird to think that now people use the 8800gtx as a lowly physics card now given how much hype the card had a couple of years back.

It's still a great card for lower resolutions (1280x1024) But I'm running at (1900x1200) and already have a GTX 295 in my system. :)

I hear they pass on "passed" graphics cards to other RMA's *tut-tut* You are right to be annoyed but the long wait probably also makes you not want to bother again lol... i understand your place.

Glad to hear you have something anyway

i love bfg for there RMA support and i will continue to buy BFG products but i do have to agree here with what pauliface is saying because i have experienced this too,i have had 2 broken cards in 2 weeks...both are from the RMA pile,as both stopped working within a couple fo days...however Jeff Kozlowski sorted it out for me..BFG are still the best;)

Jeff and RMA

Just wanted to say that Jeff is a top bloke. I got in touch with him about getting an RMA for my GTX 295 which has been overheating badly recently (sits at 77-78C when idle!). I'd sent an email to the support people but my email was being strange and kept cutting off the vast majoirty of responses, no fault of theirs, so I emailed Jeff and he sorted my RMA out straight away. He responded very quickly and was really helpful, so now all I've got to do is send the card off and hope they can fix the problem.

I've just bought 3 extra fans for my computer to make sure that airflow is not the problem, even though I already have 4. Might be a dodgey power connector, I'm thinking of getting the PSU replaced too. Anyone had a similar problem?

Hey guys. I just wanted to jump in here and apologize for any issue that I didn't get to yet. I have received a lot more requests for RMAs and RMA status than usual and it's taking me a bit longer to get to them than I expected. If you did not get a response from me or need information please let me know and I will try to get it handled as soon as possible.

pauliface - I believe that I overlooked your email a while back, and I'm sorry about that, but if I am correct and found the right one I responded to that this morning. If not let me know.

I apologize to anyone that I have yet not sent a response to and will try to get the emails sorted out over the holiday weekend.

Well I just tested my PSU with my old card (8800GTS) but they doesn't seem to be overheating or anything, so it must be my GTX failing on me :( Bit gutting but hopefully they'll be able to fix it for me, especially as the other day it went over 100C!! I'm going to send it off tomorrow so fingers crossed for a speedy response.

Mine was hitting over 100c in a very well cooled case , it ended up with permanent GFX corruption, deffo signs of a duff card. Hope you get it sorted mate!

When I RMA'd my 7950GT OC, it was very quick maybe a week, although there was no communication that it had been received I was just about to write them an email asking, then a knock at my door from the delivery man, a new 9600GT OC.

I love free upgrades. :D

Hi all
I recently RMA'd both my 8800GTS 512's due to heat/ram issues so far this process has been straightforward i just have a couple of queries. My RMA stated (product being replaced)as far as i can understand these cards may not be produced/stocked anymore so i have no idea what they will replace them with also is a guarantee a form of insurance if so as insurances go you get new for old as some of the posts in this thread imply refurbs are given which is not (NEW).Why are the replacements not shipped in their retail packaging within plain outer cardboard containers.

We've never actually had an unequivocal answer from BFG as to whether or not they can ship refurbs, but the closest we've had would indicate they only ship new cards.

As far as a replacement for your 8800GTS512 goes you will get something as good or better - so it would have as much RAM, processing units and shaders so it should be something like a 9800GTX I would have thought.

I have done a search on the 9800GTX and no retailers sell this model anymore
Would it be fair to say if people are given different models as replacements that, that the replacement should be recieved in the retail packaging indicating that the replacement is indeed (NEW).By which i mean i was planning on getting some 275's 280's after selling the 8800's but they developed faults over 2 weeks ago so i have had to RMA them (HEAT/RAM issues)so if what you say about 9800GTX's then i would have no 9800GTX boxes to sell them with. And as previous posts have suggested they have been sent duff cards as replacements this gives me very little confidence in the replacements i may receive.Don't get me wrong i do NOT want a free supa dupa upgrade i would be happy with the same model in return so long as they came back to me retail packaged(NEW).;)

We ship both. I believe that the comment that I made before was in regards to a specific card, which was new at the time and the reason those cards would be new not re-manufactured. It all depends on how old the card is. If it is not being made anymore, chances are the card has been reworked. I wish all the replacement cards we shipped could be new, it just can't work like that in all cases. But we do have the lifetime (or 10 year) warranty so it should cover any issues you guys might have with the replacements, if any. Does this clear things up?
