BFG RMA question

Hi all (and FAO Jeff)

I guess I am very unlucky with my BFG cards. I had to RMA an 8800GTX and a GTX280. One from my sons machine and the second my card. These where received in the UK depot just over a week ago and since then the status on both hasnt shifted. Today as I post this is my sons birthday and with xmas fast approaching we are getting a bit nervous that we have bought him quite a few PC Titles but have no working comp.

As I have never had cause to use an RMA service and after stumbling across this I'm unsure how long the process typically takes and what u expect back in return.

Finding Jeffs contact details in this forum has been good and Jeff I have emailed you the relevant details in the hope it can be progressed in time for Xmas.

Reposted as it got lost in the flame wars that were going on there - take it somewhere else fellas

Im also awaiting rma info as my replacement had faulty ram :(

Not my week, also got back a raptorx and it developed the click of death inside 48 hours. Talk about murphys law.

Hi i did post earlier about a number on these forums about wales depot i rma'd my cards last Wed i called this number this morning and my shipping status changed :-01443816100,ask for BFG

Looking like I'm gonna have to RMA my BFG 260GTX :( 3 out of every 4 cold starts monitor goes into standby and GPU fans spin up 100% within 5 minutes of booting to desktop - once its warmed up its fine - swapped it out for a sparkle 260GTX I had spare and no such problem so far.

Prolly the old solder/BGA issue but cba to mess around with it.

Tis the season. :o

Kinda crap timing - few more months and I'd have swapped em out for the 300 series and wouldn't have cared...

Yup, funny thing was tonight bfg were talking about a courier picking my rma up and to contact them if ive not got a call within 5 days. Think i'll just send it by royal mail, prefer to get the ball rolling right away rather than wait around for a phone call. Better chance of getting a replacement before christmas that way hopefully.

Western digital are in for a bollocking via email tomorrow, about fed up of these god damn raptor drives dropping like flies.

please could you enlighten me why you made this claim but yet you say:

As far as a replacement for your 8800GTS512 goes you will get something as good or better - so it would have as much RAM, processing units and shaders so it should be something like a 9800GTX I would have thought.

According to your post you not only got as good or better you imply you got a different league of card. All i can assume is that you traded up and if this is the case then you should make it clear,if you RMA'd your 8800GTX oc you could mention this also the reason behind my thinking is 8800GTX according to official BFG website never did a liquid cooled version and also the 8800GTS oc has the same 128 stream processors it has a faster core clock it has a faster shader clock it has a higher fill rate than the 8800GTX oc and if as you claim you got a GTX 280 oc This is still slower than the 8800GTS but has 240 stream processors so either you are b**********g or you just thought no one would notice.:)

Hi,

I have no idea who you are, all I ever do on here is try to help people. Some people don't want help, some people cannot be helped. If I've offended you in some way I apologise.

I can't explain why the water-cooled 8800GTX isn't on the official BFG website, but there is a review of it here and if you google you'll find plenty of other reviews.

I sent back a water-cooled card, and I got a water-cooled card back. That seems like the right level of replacement to me.

BFG have also done watercooled versions of the 9800GTX (possibly the + model) that don't appear on their site either - a friend of mine has 2 of them.

EDIT: Oops found it - its under a seperate water cooled section.

WJ Hi
An apology is not needed as i do not easily offend and i have read all the posts within this thread my qualms are with BFG and not youself like many other people who shell out loads cash in the belief they are covered to a LIFETIME/10YEAR guaratee but are unfortunately let down,as a lot of people are saying they are having to RMA RMA's which is not very confidence building consumer friendly.

You say that as if people haven't been getting a replacement, they have, mine took ages to arrive, but I got one at least.

Sorry i forgot that i had better spell it out for you let down in the aspect of some recieving DOA's and some people's RMA's needing to be RMA'd at no point do i instigate people are not recieving replacements and if you would read my other post mine have been dispatched i will not be forced into a slanging match at this time of year.

My RMA still seems to be dragging on unfortunatley. As previously mentioned, my replacement card was DOA so that was sent back and they received it in the warehouse on the 10th of November. I've since been advised a replacement has to come from the States but that was a couple of weeks ago now and theres still no sign of it shipping.

I've mailed Jeff and the UK Warehouse so hopefully they can work their magic and get things moving. I'd quite like to be able to play some PC games before the end of the year! :)

It is a bit inconvinient but at the end of the day its better than having to fork out for a new graphics card and its why I spent the extra money to get a BFG card over the other makes

Well contacted the chap in Wales who told me mine where being shipped from the US but was'nt really that forth coming on how long that would take, and my online status still hasnt changed.

Do they not keep stock in the UK as its their European base ??

Waiting on my RMA to be shipped as well :/
says they recieved it on 20th November (although royal mail says it got delivered on the 18th).
;_;

@Azzuri , Whats the email for the UK warehouse or how did you get info that your replacement is coming over from the states?

I also an email from them as I got them to collect the DOA card as I didn't want to pay for it to go back a second time.

eurosupport @ bfgtech.com

There only seems to be 1 guy that deals with emails/phone calls there so if hes not about you won't get a response but the times I have got hold of him he's been very helpful.

Well kicked off the RMA as all my testing points to the GPU being the problem :S submitted a support ticket in the middle of the night and got an almost instant reply so can't fault them on that aspect... bit of hassle over the registration as I didn't register the card initially - I never keep a GPU more than 2 years anyhow so didn't bother - replies have been prompt and helpful so far... infact the last lot of replies 2 different people are replying on the same subject within moments of each other lol...

Hopefully things go smoothly but I'll prolly end up buying another card to cover while its being RMA'd and give the RMA replacement to my bro.

Hi
Just to update i recieved my replacements today so it has been 7day turnaround, including weekend,i can congratulate BFG on this. But this may be attributed to me pressing or (moaning).I have checked the temps and they are idling at 58c which is far less than the 72c.I have ran GTAIV for a minute or so and i still have flickering effects,Crysis has strange lines going across the loading screens i have not tried any on multiplayer yet if i have to RMA them again it won't be this side of chistmas. And i think eVGA have started giving LIFETIME/10yr guarantees so that might make me shift next time i buy.I have sympathy for all you peeps who are RMA'ing and i hope you get sorted asap.On that note MERRY CHRISTMAS to you all and good luck.

I would not buy on the basis of warranty... I've yet to find a warranty thats worth the paper is written on and not a massive amount of headache...

Atleast with BFG so far I've had prompt responses to my support emails - got an RMA number now - despite a few hiccups its less than 24 hours since my initial contact - most places I've tried to RMA stuff to before take a good 2 days just to respond to the initial email.
