BFG RMA question

Well despite the abysmal email support this time round, my replacement is on its way.
They picked it up from the post office and within 24 hours its shipped and it coming via next working day.
They have redeemed themselves somewhat, although my opinion could swiftly change if this one dies too.

And it has, third time lucky anyone?

I’ve also had to send my card for replacement. Here’s my story :

Dec 12: My 8800GTX OC2 stopped working.

Dec 13: I contacted BFG trough their contact form.

Dec 14: I’m asked to give the serial number and almost everything on the card.

Dec15: I gave them the infos.

Dec 16: I received the RMA mail with the link to the sheets to print.

Dec 22: I mailed them the card. It cost me 15$ and 3 sheets of paper.

Dec 24: They received the card according to PostCanada.

Jan 4: The RMA status updated telling they had the card.

Jan 8: I contacted Jeff and he said he was going to send a card as soon as Monday.

Jan 11: Nothing.

Jan 12: Nothing yet.

That is my story so far. The bad thing about that is that I’m leaving for college Wednesday and if the card has not arrived, then I’ll be without a computer for a long time. Let’s hope it ships today.

Also there is something really weird that happened. All my friends with a series 8000 card had the same problem as I did. Unfortunately for them they did not have a life time warranty. But maybe it’s not a problem because as I read forums I get the feeling that there is no good rma card.

Well, you can read my trials and tribulations to date above. The card they sent me as replacement is a duffer, and have since contacted them to go through the RMA process all over again. No dice. Nothing back from them after two days of waiting. I have been buying BFG cards for a number of years now and mainly on account of their supposedly good reputation regarding customer support. This whole experience has me feeling a bit ripped off to be honest. I'm already out of pocket for an interim card plus paying for posting these cards back to them. Cannot understand why they would try to push broken cards on people as replacements. Sorry if I'm coming across a bit ****ed off here but I feel this is an unacceptable business practice. I might try ringing the Wales number that analog posted (thanks for that) since this is a case of trying to obtain an RMA for an RMA.

That's a long wait, hope you get it sorted soon, can i ask what the problem with the cards has been?

I am going to contact Jeff today, i've had not response from them at all since i sent them an email on the 7th, this will be the second card i am sending back.

Sure, at first games where freezing after about 5 mins. So I thought it might be heat relate but the temps were fine. The next day, I start my computer and there was pink and green lines all over the screen.

Pretty much exactly as what's been happening to the last two cards they sent me, i play a game and then the card never works from then on.

Hi people,

My 8800GTX died on me on xmas day (the day I finally got MW2 x( ). I contacted BFG via the webform on the 27th and received a prompt reply (within 40 minutes) asking for info so the RMA could be set up. I replied about half hour after and got another reply (about 40 minutes after my reply) stating I would get an email later that day with an RMA no. etc. Seemed really good since I wasn't expecting any reply for at least a day. After that though I didn't get anything until I sent a new email directly to them ([email protected]) yesterday and got an email back less than 10 minutes later with an RMA number.

I sent my card off this morning via Royal Mail special delivery which should get the card to them by 1pm tomorrow (13th).

What I would like to know is (if anyone knows) 1.how long on average it takes for a replacement to arrive after they receive my card, and, 2.Should I be expecting to receive a refurbed card as a replacement? I will not be happy if I get a refurbed card.

Cheers.

My first RMA from them getting it in Wales, to a card getting here from the states took a little over a week but i think it got caught up in customs, i believe this card was a refurb. The second card took 2 days to process but was sent back to me via fedex next business day so took 3 days from them getting it to me getting it back, again this is a refurb unless they put little stickers on all new cards saying "tested 16-11-09".

So in all it takes them 1-2 days to process it then 2-7 days to ship it depending on where it comes from.
And from my experience i'd expect a refurb, however it seems that some people have been given new cards.
I am going to make it expressly clear when ever i do get a response that i don't want another refurb and that i'm not paying to send it back to them for a third time.

The times seem pretty good, hopefully won't be too long. When you say the second card do you mean the refurb they sent you or an actual second defective card you had?

I'm contemplating shooting them another email to let them know I would like a new card and not a refurbed one. Don't know if it will make a difference though.

I sent them my original card, got a replacement, that broke, got another replacement and now that's dead too.

Ouch :s I'm not looking forward to getting a replacement card...

EDIT:- BFG recieved my card at 5:30am this morning (14th) and was processed and a replacement sent out by 11am. Proper speedy once they get the card. :D

Hi Guys

My 9800GX2 died mid-december. I completed the RMA process and they have recently given me back a GTX 260.

Is that a fair swap?

I've been trying to play cod mw2 but it keeps crashing. Any advice?

similar story here, original 8800gtx broke before xmas, took about 3 weeks to get replacement, that died within a couple of days, sent back and received a further replacement about a week later and now thats just died on me this morning.

These are blatently refurbed cards and i'll bet that the problems im getting are exactly the same ones that the card was sent back for in the first place. Infact, we are all probably sharing the same group of cards round in this thread. Whos up for sharing serial numbers to see who gets my one next lol?!

What can we do? Will they cover postage cots? Cost me £8 to send mine in, I'm not doing that to have it die again 3 weeks later.

I can't exactly ebay the card because nobody wants to buy a refurbished card do they?

My 9800GX2 cost me a months wage :( Don't want to be splashing out another small fortune on a new card. My card died after a year, seems totally unfair that we get sent broken second hand cards back to replace them...

Of course they are refurbished cards, do you think they just have tons of brand new 9800 / 260's sat in the warehouse?

If you kick up a fuss, they will pay the postage cost.

MilanoChris - Got my replacement early this afternoon. Got a refurbed 260, looks like new apart from a bit of paint missing on one side. Just had a quick go in MW2 and everything seems to be working well.

I'm just happy it took nowhere near as long to get the replacement as it did to get the RMA number. :D

Cool. Are you happy with the 260 then? Will it perform as well as the 8800 GTX? I have an 8800 GTX OC that appears to be dying and I don't want to get short changed in terms of the replacement card.
