the bb tool that you specced earlier was for isis, so I'll need an octalink one of those... are the lx cranks much better than my deore ones? I've seen on the E13 site a iscg adaptor that jams in between the bb cup and the frame would this work better than just jamming the boomerang in there? where can I get one from? can you get the iscg mounts welded on?

thanks

The one i specced earlier was for splined.......ISIS,the type i removed from my own frame. I only picked that because the octalink one in the kona has similar notches on it.....but it IS just a standard BB so a standard BB tool will remove it.

Go for the ISCG one and mount the adapter, that means you can fit your chain device to a NON iscg frame AND an iscg frame. The mounts come built on the frame......

Take a look at your BB,does it have lots of little splines inside the rim of it?

Weescott, very nice bike mate.

Is that the 07 heckler?

What modifications have you made to it from standard?

Also out of curiousity, can you climb fairly reasonably with that travel?

A quick question about adjusting the front derailleur:

When I have it set on the large chain ring the chain won't shift down onto the middle ring when I shift down; the chain just rubs on the derailleur. It will move down onto the small ring if I put the lever in the lowest setting and back up onto the middle ring.

How do I need to adjust the H and L screws to move the chain onto the middle ring from the large one ?

Thanks :)

Just got my shock back from TFT, had it serviced and got it PUSHed whilst it was there. Not had chance to give it a proper ride yet, that will be tomorrow but from the brief play about on it ive had it feels so much better, glad i got it PUSHed now :D

was gonna get a pic before i put it back on the bike but i forgot so here a gratuitous whole bike pic instead :p

I'm defo going for the iscg adaptor,, I've found one at crc, its an e13 isgc 05 one. I presume thats the newest type. will the bb cup sandwitch the mount adaptor securely or will I need to araldite it or weld it on?

You don't. The H screw limits how far from the bike the hanger can move, and the L screw limits how close it can get to the frame.

Set the gears to the large 'ring and smallest sprocket (your highest gear basically). Stretch the mech spring as far as you can so the hanger is as far from the frame as it can be. While still holding it, screw the H limiter in until there is only a few mm (1-2mm) clearance between the outer part of the hanger and the chain.

Now select your lowest gear (smallest 'ring and largest sprocket). Screw the L screw until there is only a few mm clearance between the inner part of the hanger and the chain.

On the front shifter pod, where the cable exits, there should be a 'twiddly thing' (the barrel adjuster) that, as you screw it, a tube of metal moves in and out of. Screw it all the way in so that the metal tube is as far into the shifter as it will go, then screw it one full turn out.

Now you've done that, still on the smallest 'ring, get some pliers and an allen key for your front mech cable. Loosen the allen key that is gripping the cable a little, just enough so you can pull the cable through. Hold the loose end of the cable (the bit that sticks out of the derrailleur and ends) with the pliers and pull it so it is tensed. Now tighten the allen key and you should be shifting nicely, if you need to, you can adjust more finely with the barrel adjuster.

That's his OLD bike! He's got a new Nomad now. That heckler's an '03 or something.

Yeah. It's an 03 rear and 06 front. The 07's are due in about 2weeks...allegedly.

The Heckler climbs extremly well. My old build weighed 33.5lbs but it's the DHX 5.0 that makes the difference. I can keep up with rigs much lighter. It doesn't compare to the Nomad VPP though.

Mods made from Standard:

Mavic X317's to DT Swiss EX5.1D
Deore FM to XT
Deore Cassette to XT (did that after about 3 months)
Hope Mini 185 to Mono M4 220mm floating braided
Deore Shifters to Sram Attack
WTB grips to Yeti
WTB Hellbent XC stem to RF Atlas
WTB Fast Al Stem to Hope < Fast Al was only 2 bolt.. uggg
Fox Float R to DHX 5.0
Manitou Black 120mm to Sherman Flick Plus to Fox Talas R.
WTB Skewers to USE, rear USE to Kore Ti
WTB post to Thomson Elite layback.
160mm rear rotor to 200mm
Deore Crankset to RF Evolve XC < wear and tear.

plus bearings, chains and cassettes, from wear and tear.

Right, I'm bored and really wanting to sell to buy a roady so here's the spec I want to rid myself of

Ritchey Scuzzy Logic 1 1/8" headset
"Sporty" forks
Saracen stem
Saracen riser bar
Deore shifter/brake combo pods
Saracen grips
Specialized 175mm Strongarm crank
Truvativ chainrings 44/32/22
Shimano 170mm :o non-drive crank arm
Square taper 68/113 BB
DMR V8 Grease port black pedals
Shimano Deore HG50 9sp cassette 32-11
KMC Z9 chain
Deore front top-swing mech
Deore rear mech (normal non-RR)
Quando rear hub (8/9sp) disc
Black spokes
Alexrims 26" rim
Front hub disc
Silver spokes
Silver rim
Michelin Transworld City tyres

I also have:

A Deore V-Brake with hardly used pads
Possibly a Cane Creek Direct Curve 3 V-brake with used pads
Magura HS33 Evo brakes (Pair) in black with Green Frog pads (hardly used) and normal black pads which have seen a bit of use.

How much do you reckon I could get for any/all of this?
