one of these will be mine in a couple of weeks, but i don't know what to choose...

GT Avalanche 2.0 with Tecktro Aquila Hydro's, 24 speed Shimano Deore, Suntour fork, 100mm travel + lockout (which i want) - can get for £385

Or....

Giant Terrago 2007, same set up near enough except Deore 27 speed, probs about £350

Choices choices :(

I have the current 2006 Terrago Disk and can recommend it massively; although since learned that looking around can get you some great deals on more expensive bikes such as the XTC

a guy who lives nearby has a planet x carbon road bike, looks expensive and really nice!

Hmmm well the full carbon one at work was only £1000 and another focus? or focal full carbon(lighter than the planet X one) is only about £1000. The focal/focus one looks dodgy...if you squezz the top tube....the tubes flex

I thought the standard answer was Thomson stem and WTB or Specialized saddle? :D

After a superb long weekend of riding in fantastic conditions out in the wilderness I splashed out today. I'm still waiting on my frame for the full sus build... So for something different I bought a new road bike and accessories, slightly trigger happy with the purchases, the bike is full SRAM Force groupo, new Giro Atmos helmet, road shoes and pedals worthy of the bike and some other bits and pieces. Mucho dinero :D

edit: yeah I meant seatpost, but then I have their stems too :D

It's true. Aluminium fatigues faster than a 90 year old chain smoker climbing stairs.

A very helpfull guy from Madison (Shimano UK importers) gave me the part number for the blade on Singletrackworld - ordered one from the pricely sum of £7.

Was tempted to replace the brakes entirely with HFX9s so I'll have the same discs on all 4 bikes...

New bike just arrived - Revolution Courier Nexus '07.

Now, I know sweet FA about bikes, so this bike came recommended by a knowledgable friend.

Cost £320, and I had mudguards and a computer fitted in addition. Seems pretty sturdy and fairly light. The gearing system is interesting - at first glance appears only to have a single gear, with the additional gearing contained in a cylindrical housing in the centre of the rear wheel.

This is the first 'decent' bike I've owned (my previous ones being generally poor, and costing under £80). It's been a while since I rode, but I'm trying to lose weight and the rowing machine is getting repetetive, so what better time than now? I'm taking it for a test-drive along the canal towpath later on :)

Sonea Fifer - how much did you pay for the Wrath?

£450.00

The wrath's an alright bike, but the forks are horrible.

Their Rock Shox Dart 3 suspension forks, magnesium lowers, 100mm travel, TurnKey Lockout damping, with disc mount and pre-load adjuster. Am happy so far with them - only time will tell tho
