Hope someone with a keen eye can help, I'm trying to work out what make of lever I have on my bike :o . Tektro, but can't find it on the Tektro.com site anywhere. Bought the bike second hand and the seller doesn't know (he didn't fit/choose it especially. Only one on there and I want a rear brake.

Alternative is to ditch the Tektro if there's a suitable all black, matte similar but better lever.

Guess the model >>

Edit: full bike ;)

Looks like a regular generic Tektro. Not bad, but most others should be an upgrade?

Hows the Langster? Im thinking of getting one for my road miles. Have you got it set up fixie?

Not fixie yet, previous owner took that cog off. All I've done is take the rear brake off and hook up the front one; switch to spd clip in road pedals; and put a smaller cog on the back.

The bike's been great, I don't have any similar bike experience to compare it to though. Harsh ride compared to the soggy MTB from my childhood and likes endo'ing at every opportunity when you've only got a front brake, but fantastic for a 20min flat commute into London.

Yeah, didn't reckon it was a quality lever, but figured I could get a quick partner to the one I have now. Will check local shop but don't think I saw one there.

Does the rear chainset have freewheel or fixed? If it's freewheel do not remove the rear brake. If the front brake fails you have no way of slowing down.

Foot + tyre. Worked on my BMX for 2 years now :p

That's my point, there was only one brake fitted when I bought it. I need another lever to have both. Freewheel atm. Although I never actually considered the front brake failing as it hasn't happened to me, yet.

It's happened to me, in the wet, with a woman pulling in front of me. Front failed, applied rear but skidded out...went under the car. Ok though.

If I wasn't driving through a busy city every morning I'd go brakeless + fixie, Just for the simplicity and clean looks. As I do, I want a better chance at avoiding the plonkers that roam our roads and pavements.

looks nice, liking the green :) what did you do to your forks?

Not quite sure.. seem to have a 2 inch dead zone... so when i go off a drop or something the forks drop 2 inchs and make a clunk.. wierd
