hi all, After my chain guard broke last week, im finding, changing the big 3 rings a pain, esp, if i change it to the highest (3), the chain goes over the rings and off!!!. How can i adjust it so it doesnt do this? thanks

Change the hi-lo limits. Two little screws on the mech. Check your mechs manual to see how to adjust them. That should stop it going over when you change.

Anyone ride in Berkshire?

Looking for some more riding buddies, definately going to get out on this lovely looking weekend :D Maybe Swinley Forest?

a friend is selling his Duncan **** frame for 175, its a really nice frame but I don't know how much they are/what they are worth, its an unused one that he got on warranty. I cant seem to find any pictures of it online

+ does any one else's neck ache after riding?

So I got my new Bianchi...

Brifters: Ultegra
RD: Ultegra
FD: 105
Crankset: FSA Gossamer MegaExo Double 53/39t
Cassette: Fac Michelin PRIMATO 12-25 10V
Wheels: Mavic Open Pro Rims, DT Swiss spokes and 105 hubs. *
Pedals: Look Keo Sprints
Saddle: Selle San Marco Ponza
Handlebars: Bontrager Race Lite (Aluminium, not sure which model!)
Bottle cages: Bontrager Race Lite
Shoes: Shimano

I'll be getting a Sigma BC 1606L DTS with wireless cadence cycle computer for her.

* The front wheel is on loan to me while my LBS awaits stock of front 105 hubs in order to build the front wheel.

The bar tape is temporary until they have instock some Bianchi branded tape in the Celeste colour.
The cable covers are kind of a grey/silver. I don't mind them but as I didn't think to specify to the LBS what colour I wanted them, I won't make a fuss.

So, on with the pics!

More soon...

Being new to clipless pedals, I went to a park to practice clipping in and out with the lowest spring tension. After severall hours, I have now got it pretty well sussed and am 95% confidant out on the roads and in traffic. I had a few moments where I got a green light and struggled to clip in, but fortunately drivers have been very patient with me! I went for a sprint one time and I unclipped. This was quite unnerving so I have tightened the pedal tension a little to make this harder.

The only fall I have had off of grass was on a MUP on the beach front in my home town of Exmouth. I came to a dead slow as some ones dog walked past (leashed) and then stopped. I just held there for half a second thinking: "hmmm I am sure I am supposed to do something right now". Down I went! :D Caught myself with my arm though and there was no harm done. A couple sat on a bench were amused but we both had a little chuckle over it. :o

I am finding the gearing a little on the aggressive side, with out a cycle computer I cant be sure of my cadence, but I tend to find I am mashing at about 70 as opposed to my more comfortable range of 90-100. With that said, I will ask the LBS to swap the cranks over to a 50/36 or 34 compact so the two cassette ranges are more suited to my preferences. I don't think I will miss the 53-12 combination as I am finding I can pedal quite slowly and easily hit the 30 mph limit (based on maintaining a distance behind a car) on the roads I have used thus far with a 53-21 combination .

I am otherwise very happy with her and looking forward to many thousands of miles of exploration, challange and fun on her!

I live in Reading (in term time). How far is that from Swinley Forest? Do you know any dirt jumping/Freeride/North Shore/4X courses nearby?

Peace

No, but my lower back really aches and hurts when I'm going up long climbs. I can't decide whether it's because I'm leaning forward too much or not enough.
I'm also going through the same problems. I think it's down to a weaker back that suffers more with the strain of uphill climbs.

Im ashamed of you guys,no pics from some trails or anything?

Got all the parts on my bike now, just kinda cant ride it due to not having the skillzzzzzzzz to build a front wheel.

That crank is HUGE !

It sure moves some! I can spin out 53-15 on a hill at 30mph. I can't wait to get my computer fitted (Monday) and go find some big hills where the limit is 50.

You seem to have some sort of suitcase attached underneath your saddle :D

Yeah I carry a lot of crap. :) 2 tubes, bananas, energy bars, gels some times. Depending on how far I am going that day.

Absolutely adore that bike, I was going to get the Veloce version but decided that £850 was far too much to spend on a first road bike.

Thanks, overall I love her. She's an absolute pleasure to pedal, responds to everything I give so quickly compared to my old roadie. The dust settles before my mountain bike has a chance (referring to leaving something in the dust).

The gearing is high but after basically 2 months of no cycling (broke my mountain bike), its no wonder I am finding it hard to make use of the moderate gears on the flat. When well warmed up, I feel like I am reaching my more comfortable cadence area.

£850 probably is too much. I spent a appreciable bit more than that on this Bianchi but then I did have use of an old road bike to sample the sport. I quickly knew this was for me. Something I can enjoy and enables me to explore a lot.
