To answer a few questions -

Its a Look 986, but a Chinese copy, literally perfect. Original frame cost £2k - This came in at £400 including import. The seat tube is integrated and as I haven't got the BB fitted yet, I haven't been able to measure for the cut, so it should come down a few inches. I am mainly a road cyclist but this is going to be the winter bike, there's no way I'm going to be cycling around London in the winter without disc brakes! It is very light, frame is about 1100gms in a large.

I need to get the forks serviced though, as they've been neglected for the past 5 years

I noticed the Chinese tape on the box.
It's also not a perfect copy. The top tube bends as it enters the seat tube - The original frame goes straight into the seat tube. Probably some other differences as well.
The area around your BB looks very fragile, carbon frames usually have an oversized section around the BB area for strength and stiffness.

yikes!!!!

Kelly McGarry overshot the 75ft canyon gap today and catapulted himself over 100ft. He walked away from the crash, a little worse for wear, but with all parts moving and most importantly with his sense of humour still intact. Only a couple hours later he was settled back into his condo, joking around with his team, and inspecting the damage on both him and his bike. Kelly plans to get back at it tomorrow, after his wheels and a few other integral parts are replaced.

I guess time will tell on the strength, I can definitely put up with some small discrepancies for the price.

Rather you than me when the head tube sheers off and the fork goes into your teeth.

Chinese knock off clothes are one thing, bike frames are another.

:(

I've bought a lot of Chinese carbon parts and all of them have been fine. The reason I'm even moving to this is because I had a GT Zaskar carbon frame that ended up cracking. There's a lot of stigma and negativity towards the Chinese parts from people who just make assumptions, from the experience I've had with the parts I've bought, I'm more than happy to buy the frame. It's not as if the official ones never snap! ;)

Bird Zero now officially ordered! Excited much.

Went for yellow in the end, the more I looked the more I wanted it. Plus I want to play with it at Glentress!

I get where you are coming from. I have Chinese parts too and have no problem with them. What I do have a problem with is counterfeit parts where you don't know if they have gone through a strict QC process.

Nice one! When will you have it and which model did you go for?

Still waiting to hear about mine, but I'm struggling to get any feedback from them. I've been asking all week for prices for the 1x11 options but I've not had a response. Slightly frustrating since they've already taken payment.

I think they overwhelmed with enquires about the Aeris but that doesn't really help me.
