At that price, it doesn't really matter if it's good - if I were waiting on a bike / had parts laying around I would grab it as a fun concept / **** about project bike.

I'd molest the crap out of it, just to see what kind of Frankenstein I can make of it.
-2 degree head angle cups, maximum offset bushes, too long a travel fork for it, 650b wheels and some supergravity tyres , you name it :D

Yep it's an absolute no brainer. At the best you get a brilliant riding, fairly unique frame for next to nothing. At the worst you have fun riding it for X amount of time, and you get replacement, or a refund when they run out of frames. Or possibly a discount on a Saracen Ariel, I think Genesis are part of Madison or something.

Hi all.

Ok so I want to get back into MTB'ing!:D Its been 10 years since I have ridden properly! (Yep far too long) I used to own an EPX Terra Shark but dont flame me for it, it is a marmite bike and had to sell it due to being young, stupid and ending up skint at the time.

So now I am on the hunt for a bike but it is killing me searching with options and severe budget constraints! Currently saving as much as I can for our flat so I am limited to a £300 cash buy or if I cancel my contact lens direct debit I can do £40 a month on finance.... but it does not stop there, I am being a spec snob! It is all well doing the new tech research and understanding what is what but some of the HT's with 100mm forks seem limited (correct me please).

I would go for a HT but prefer a FS if I can get one or even build one up over the next 3 months with 2nd hand parts? (probably not a good idea).

But either way can some one help or throw some ideas at me?

Cheers,
Brack

Lol BaJ.

Yes I will... I have milk bottles. I have 3 months supply of contact lenses and another 3 months due so I wont need the subscription as I wear glasses mostly now.

Your not going to get a fs for £300, in fact you'll struggle to get a good HT for 1st 300. My advice would be save up some more and get a good second hand HT.

New forks for the Tues, 2012 Fox 40 fit RC2.
hopefully get out on the bike tomorrow to give them a good blast, was interested in giving 40's a good go seeing as i've been using boxxers since mid naughties, but didnt want to risk splashing out on a new set incase i didnt get on with them, so i'm gonna give these used set a good long term test and if i'm happy i'll sell and upgrade to new set.

dont really tie in with the colour scheme, so next plan is to paint them black(Satin or Matte?), then get a set of custom decals from Slikgraphics thinking gloss black with green highlights(suggestions welcome).

Meh offer declined. Back to trawling the bay and gtree.

What Juggy said but with a little green cartoon fox near the bottom of the forks?

Check pinkbike.

Those boardman fs ate good, all though cheap for a reason. Mates was constantly needing serviced. Was two months before all wheel bearings got replaced, every bearing was replaced shortly after.

Never seen him struggle with anything on it though for such a small travel frame.

Planning on getting the Pro FS Boardman over the next week or so. Looks to be a decent bike for the price, especially with the discount. Plus have friends who work in Halfords so would like to think I shouldn't have any issues around warranty stuff if it comes to it!
