Specialized riders are currently dominating world cycling and mountain biking.

World Cross Country MTB Marathon winner : Christoph Sauser
World Cross Country MTB Champion : Christoph Sauser
World 4x Champion : Rafa Alvarez
World Junior XC Champion: Peter Sagan
World Cup XC Champion (2007) and current leader (2008) : Christoph Sauser
Just out of interest, SDK^, what bikes are they using?

I'm guessing Sauser is riding an Epic for the most part? Is that in all competitions?

And I wasn't aware that Specialized did a, er, specialised 4X bike. Is Rafa riding one of the P. frames?

Yup - Sauser rides the new 2009 Epic S-Works : http://www.bikeradar.com/news/article/specialized-2009-mountain-bikes-faster-sharper-17374

Peter Sagan is currently using the old 2008 Epic S-Works
Rafa won the World’s 4X on Specialized’s 2009 SX Trail and he was the only racer in the event on a full suspension bike.

yo yo Kitejumper - long time no speak.

I've visited Wales 3 times in two months - Coed Y Brenin (Snowdon National Park) and will be going to Cwmcarn Forest, Newport, South Wales on 26th July which is about 20miles from Swansea.

If you're around I could pop in although it might be late and I'll be knackered after doing a full day mountain biking.

I didn't realise you still used this forum - just reading some of your older posts. Lolz @ Internet, Network and Cinema TV help - nothing changes :p

well... firstly, isn't Roel Paulissen XCM world champ?

And Julien Absalon is leading... he has been for the past couple of years

The Marathon was highly controversial. Sauser crossed the line first but was put back to 2nd place because the UCI (wrongly) deemed him responsible for a crash. Anyway, Specialized have lodged an appeal so the result may change ;)

Roel Paulisson is the guy carrying his bike in the background.

You may have a point about Julien Absalon though :o ;)

^ if you DH, Mynydd Du is awesome

if Roel's bike wasn't broken, he'd have won. Sauser "won" by luck, just like Alvarez :p

Those Cannondales aren't as robust as maybe they should be :p
The video is on uTube so decide for yourself if he caused the crash : http://www.specializedfactoryracing.com/archive/200807

How the heck did Sauser fall off at the end there? Looked like his tyres just lost a bit of tread on the tarmac and he came off, pretty weird way to crash though! I've seen some of the tour de france rider's bikes wriggling more than that at the end and thats on very thin road wheels, can't see how Sauser really fell over, but nevermind. Don't think he should be denied first place for that though.

Starting to get my hardtail built back up,gonna go with a single ring setup to save money. I'm thinking 32 - 16t as a general mess about and get to and from work. I need some decent tyres for the road though. Current thoughts have been dmr motos for the off road ability and low rolling resistance and high roller semi slicks...anybody got any good recomendations?
