The Mille or the FP1?
I paid £800 for the FP1 from my LBS.
Excellent bike, despite the fact that it's "only" got Tiagra on it. I won't lie, I bought it for the name and the looks to be honest!!.
Had the Mille for about 6 years now. Back then I paid £4k for it and since then I've probably spent about another £1k on performance parts like exhausts, race airbox kits and more carbon fibre than a carbon fibre factory.
It's probably worth around £3k now what with the depreciation factor.
Anyway, back to the Pinarello.
I've loved the Prince since the first time I clapped eyes on it. It's an absolute thing of beauty and those who have ridden one say it's simply on another level compared to most of it's peers.
They
are expensive, but then what price do you put on your hobby or enjoyment of it?.
I'm still undecided. Everytime I go out on the Mille I end up grinning like a maniac, but I must be getting old because I have lately started fearing for my driving licence. So time to call it a day with superbikes might be the best policy.
Friends and workmates think I'm nuts to even consider buying a Prince when they hear the price. A few fellow cyclists have also commented on how it would be "wasted" on me as I'm a relative beginner to cycling. Quite honestly though, I find that a rather daft comment to make.
In the grand scheme of things its no different to buying a top of the range superbike or performance car - if you have the means to do so.
