Hopefully I'll be getting a £400 insurance payout soon for my stolen Giant Terrago '07. I'm thinking about spending £550-£600 on a replacement. Has anyone got any specific recommendations before I go and test ride some at my local shop?

Anyone fitted aftermarket Tri/Aerobars to their roadbike?.

I've just got a set and I'm not sure whether to just bung 'em on the bars and just "suck it and see" as far as adjustment goes or if there is some sort of specified way to fit these to a roadbikes bars?.

Ta.

Who are people insuring thier bikes with? Any decent companies?

Ive got my current bike, nothing special insured on the house insurance upto the value of £1000. Not worth anything near that though. Only a Dawes Oxide '05 :p

Anyway, Im thinking of buying a new bike, around £1600ish. BigHit has caught my eye. Would be better finding a decent insurance company I could insure it with for a reasonable yearly fee.

A BigSh!t you mean :P
Get a second hand Demo 7 with Triple's imo if youre looking for a SPecialized DH bike.
TBH, it's a good time to buy at the moment, seen so many good deals on Iron HOrse/factory bikes!

Gorgeous! Although personally i'd rather have the handjob i think if i was going cove, or in a perfect world the hummer. I'm looking (too much) now at cotic frames the soul/soda look ****ing fantastic. Lovely frame either way though, tres jealous :)

Big Hit's not good then ? :p

Where is a good place to look for second hand bikes like Demo 7's etc.

Im not really bothered to buy second hand, getting a better bike for the price of a new Big Hit!

At present, I own an RSV Mille superbike and a Pinarello FP1.

I'm thinking of selling the RSV, using the FP1 as a winter/training bike and getting a Prince :-

I used the Mille maybe half a dozen times this year. And to be honest, the cycling bug has bitten me that bad that any time there is any half decent weather and I've got some time off, I leave the motorbike at home and go out for a run on the Pinarello.

The RSV is just a great big red paperweight that hardly moves.

Time to turn it into cash and go for a Prince, what do you think?.

Have you considered getting a mountain bike instead of another road bike?

The Mille or the FP1? :p

I paid £800 for the FP1 from my LBS.

Excellent bike, despite the fact that it's "only" got Tiagra on it. I won't lie, I bought it for the name and the looks to be honest!!.

Had the Mille for about 6 years now. Back then I paid £4k for it and since then I've probably spent about another £1k on performance parts like exhausts, race airbox kits and more carbon fibre than a carbon fibre factory. :D

It's probably worth around £3k now what with the depreciation factor.

Anyway, back to the Pinarello.

I've loved the Prince since the first time I clapped eyes on it. It's an absolute thing of beauty and those who have ridden one say it's simply on another level compared to most of it's peers.

They are expensive, but then what price do you put on your hobby or enjoyment of it?.

I'm still undecided. Everytime I go out on the Mille I end up grinning like a maniac, but I must be getting old because I have lately started fearing for my driving licence. So time to call it a day with superbikes might be the best policy.

Friends and workmates think I'm nuts to even consider buying a Prince when they hear the price. A few fellow cyclists have also commented on how it would be "wasted" on me as I'm a relative beginner to cycling. Quite honestly though, I find that a rather daft comment to make.

In the grand scheme of things its no different to buying a top of the range superbike or performance car - if you have the means to do so.

Fully serviced bearings and cleaned, so looks new and sparkley! - Cant wait untill next month to get this up and running!!! :D grinning like a school girl :)

However some more work needs to be done, still looks better than when it came.

And awful camera :(

Waiting on my : Blue Hope seat clamp
