I ran a Deore crankset for a couple of years. Not as stiff as some of the other stuff I have run but works well. Those steel rings last forever too. SLX is the best bang for buck just now without a doubt.

just got myself one of the these on the cycle to work scheme for £699. its a scott aspect fx15, havent ridden a bike for about 10 years.

Hello, not sure if this is the right thread to post this in but I have a new job and I don't drive at the moment.

I have a flat share about 4.8 miles from my job and I was going to cycle to work until I am driving, to all you cyclists out there how long do you think this would take me?

I'm going to purchase a mountain bike (rock hopper) in the next couple of weeks so any advice would be appreciated.

That depends entirely on the route. Flat, hills, through a city? You could cycle 4.8 miles in about 20 minutes. When you get the bike, try the route out before you start your job to see how long it takes.

I use to do exactly 5 miles in 16minutes on my old Heckler with knobblies through city center traffic and some minor hills. 25mins if taking it easy.

Yeah, its pretty much a straight road, I haven't been on the route personally yet, only checked it out on google maps.

Nice, seems like a good option then, gonna be a struggle as the jobs shift work mornings/afternoons/nights, guess it will wake me up i suppose lol

To all the downhillers/Freeriders

GET A LEATT ADVENTURE

£178 and a complete bargian. Super comfortable so much so that you honestly dont even realise it's there. I have used it all weekend - not actually noticed it's there not even once.

Get a set of road tyres! You won't believe the difference it makes, I've occasionally commuted on my mtb when my road bike's broken and it adds about 50% to my commute time. Partly because it's lower geared too but it's mainly the tyres.

my freind wants to sell me his Genesis Day 01 for £90, i was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this and is it a good buy or am i being had? here is a picture of what i assume it is (havent actually seen it yet).

Local DH park Diablo opened for the season last weekend, couldn't go then, but made it out there for the day yesterday. Sooooo much fun being being back on the big bike.

Assume it's in good condition that's a bargain.
