I've been back at home for 2 and a bit days now Uni has finished. I've most been looking forward to going out on my new Enduro which I haven't been able to use too much since now.

Just got back from my second ride, been out about 3 hours around a local trail, piddled it down about half way through so I took shelter in the woods (provided suprisingly good cover actually!) would have powered on through but I took my camera out with me and didn't want it to get wet (wasn't sure how waterproof the backpack was).

Rubbish pic of a scary (for me) steep descent with plenty of rocks and roots: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v67/Andelusion/Bike Stuff/18thJune060.jpg

I'm still very much getting used to the bike, I cut my seatpost down today so I can drop it for more technical descents. I'm really enjoying this and can't wait to get on the train to more interesting trails as my skills improve. Here's a pic of my bike after getting back, it doesn't look it; but it's quite muddy (the way it should be!) I spent about an hour cleaning it today too :p

Where abouts was the pic taken? looks an alright place for a few hours riding.

It's called Liley wood on google maps, it's in Huddersfield near Mirfield. It's mostly bridlepaths but there are some points in the thick of the woods with steep descents/rollers and stuff, more of a mini cross-country track really, there's a very difficult ascent covered in many rocks that's a real challenge to get all the way up without stopping :)

Excellent thank you, I have been looking for some more local places to pootle about. Have you been to Dalby yet?

Don't any of you do really long bike rides? Sportives, Audaxes, mostly on the road, maybe there is an alternative for off road though?

I've got around 10,000ft of climbing in 2 weeks and around 180 miles to do

Check the route

That's only 137miles though? 10000ft on the road over that distance isn't that bad at all. The 100 mile MTB races I do are generally about 11000ft climbing.

I have to cycle there and back too which is about 20 miles each way.

I suppose, it says 10,000ft but my garmin always comes back with a higher figure, same for all the other garmins too, seems though though, some hills are uber steep but some seem to go on forever like at 5% or something.

Then again it's also made harder by the fact I want to achieve an average speed of 18mph which over that is quite tough for me, it'll probs end up being about 15-16mph.

And I reckon climbing will be easier for you, look at your sig I presume you've got **** loads of hills round you with those great things in the background! :p

Barel had been out after a knee injury, I think this was only his second race back. Hill was second.

Atherton was last man on course and flying until he crashed right near the end.

Great win by Barel in this WC this weekend, Peaty flatted and Atherton looked like he might get the win until a crash :(
Sorry, I missed that :o

Looking at the split times Gee was 2 seconds down before the last sector anyway.
Hill lost 2 seconds to Barel in the last sector and finished 0.71 back so he probably slipped a pedal or had a minor off.

I tried to watch the freecaster vid and gave up. It plays for 2 secs then goes into buffer mode plays for 2 secs and goes into buffer mode etc..

I paused it for 30mins and it only downloaded 2 mins worth.

Is my bike too Heavy? and what can i do to make it lighter?

Specialized Enduro 06 with fox dhx 5.0
Hope Pro 2 on a Mavic XC717 Disc Rim XT cassette (rear wheel)
Hope pro 3 with DT swiss 4.20 front wheel
SLX chain set
XT rear dereailier
XT front
Rockshox revelations 426 dual uturn
Hope mono mini brakes.

I do want it lighter!
But the bike is still 13.3KG or 29.3 Lbs.

RE freecaster - I get the same issue and have given up watching.
