Is my bike too Heavy? and what can i do to make it lighter?

Specialized Enduro 06 with fox dhx 5.0
Hope Pro 2 on a Mavic XC717 Disc Rim XT cassette (rear wheel)
Hope pro 3 with DT swiss 4.20 front wheel
SLX chain set
XT rear dereailier
XT front
Rockshox revelations 426 dual uturn
Hope mono mini brakes.

Now this isnt a show off thread, But all the kit is good stuff and rides very well. But i do want it lighter!
But the bike is still 13.3KG or 29.321480870605 Lbs.

RE freecaster - I get the same issue and have given up watching.

That is a good weight, you are not gonna get lighter without going carbon all out including frame or hardtail.

Fox DHX 5 Coil shock : 447g
Fox RP23 air shock : 208g

Also those wheels are nice but they are not very light.

My Enduro SL weighs 27.2lbs - see spec in my sig.

Wheels are extremely light. light cross country wheels. And its not the coil shock, its the DHX Air 5.0 so changing to the rp23 is out of the question.

I'll settle for 29.3 lbs then.

You could go lighter on the wheels but it will affect your bank balance! And SDK has a carbon frame and he is only 3lbs lighter so your pretty damn light at your current spec :D

Excellent thank you, I have been looking for some more local places to pootle about. Have you been to Dalby yet?

Na haven't been to Dalby yet, I don't drive and it's a bit difficult going on the train - very long ride from the nearest station. Me and one of my friends from Uni are planning a day trip there, he's from Scarborough so it's quite near for him :) Looking forward to it.

Where do you usually go riding? Your location says York which is fairly close to me and I'm trying to find a good list of trails at the moment.

Around here you have Dalby and Hamsterley close by trail centre wise, but if I want to get general riding in I go an explore the north york moores a good staring point for this is from Sutton Bank. I dont really know of many place south of York seems most of the good riding is North!

I can email you some trails if you like?

It's light for an Enduro but could be lighter.

What Tyres and tubes are you using? This is where you will notice the weight saving the most.

Also. What bars, stem, seat, seatpost, discs (floating?)etc are on it? What budget do you have for upgrades?

Am i right in thinking that all the Rockhopper family (for a given year) share the same frame, just in different colours?

Yes - basing my answer on the vast majority of bike manufacturers/series of bikes.
Usually only the spec change from year to year - with modifications to the frame only now and again

It's silly light already :)

I get that general idea from what people are saying - I didnt relise that <30lbs is a good weight for an all mountain bike. Atleast I do now!

Floating disc 180mm front and standard 160mm on the rear
not very good bar and stem - Could upgrade these...

Tires are fr - Maxxis Larrsen TT 2.0
rear - Specilized fast track 2.0

My guess is those wheels weigh around 1750g which I wouldn't call extremely light.

I have some Roval Traversee AM wheels which weigh 1500g and the XC version weighs only 1430g - nearly 1lb lighter than the above. That is extreme light weight ;)

How much does a Rockhopper disc weigh?

Rockhopper Pro about 25lbs
Rockhopper Comp about 27lbs

A quick question for everyone. Thought I would keep it in this thread instead of posting the 28th new bike thread this week.

I'm relocating soon and changing jobs. They have a ride2work scheme and i'd be looking to be commuting the 22mile round trip each day. Im getting into the idea of geting a very light single speed road bike such as a nice bianchi or fuji track bike but not sure if it's suitable for this distance. The route is very flat but has some busy traffic on some stretches. Now I'm comfortable on a roadbike but quite fancied the idea of a slick single.
Now what I getting to was..... has anyone got any experiences doing such distance of a fixie/single or any advice?
