can anyone reccomend a shop for getting a mountain bike? dont want to go to halfruads tbh.

prob want to spend around £200 and will be useing for riding along bike paths and through forrests.

thanks

£200 for the bike itself or is that including helmet, lights etc? The cheap bikes i was building were built buy dawes or something. They retailed at £190 but you could get them for £160 just by asking i can imagine, that would leave some cash for other things. Above £200 you are talking around ~£260 before you hit premium brands with better components.

Dont you have any LBS's near? Most if not all should be better than Halfrauds.

there is one i will have a look in was wondering if there were any online stores people reccomend so i could look at a few bikes and specs etc.

£200 for a bike, wont be getting lights or a helmet.

At the moment i just have a cheap £70 one from supermarket which i got just to start biking for a bit of excersize. ive started going a lot further now and wanted something a bit better quality.

That '10 Stumpjumper looks lush! £5500 though  That Sram XX stuff though isn't the cheapest around. Had a shock when I saw the price list, think weescott posted it a few weeks ago.

Im after a new chain for my HT. Whats the difference between the Sram PC951 / PC961 / PC971? Colour?

Thanks :)

Decided to go with the 971 in the end. Also a new rear mech, a replacement Sram X7 to tie me over untill I get the new bike. With my chain snapping, I managed to twist my current rear mech :(

any suggestions on these? or other reccomendations. budget was set at £200 but seeing as how most bikes look rubbish at that price i will up it to £260 with £300 being absolute max.

The Gt is probably the best out of the lot to be honest. Don't go near the saracen it's an overweight XC bike. I think the lower end merida bikes I was building last week felt really well made.

France/Italy/Switzerland/Germany Roadtrip starts tomorrow! Anyone else out in the Alps this year? We'll only be doing a day in 'Zine and les gets as we really have ridden it all, more to stop in at the Sherpa BBQ and say hi to a few old faces!

Myself on a bright orange Brooklyn Racelink and Edd on his baby Blue one. More than likely looking scruffy as ****.. We don't do factory very well.
