Does it have to be brand new ?

Ideally as she wants it before Christmas. I don't have time to look for second hand bikes really as i haven't done any Christmas shopping yet myself.

Just wanted to try and get the the best bike possible for the small budget. The bikes that are £90 are rubbish, Ive had one myself and they weigh a ton. Not to mention Shimano SIS gears and the nightmares Ive had trying to get them working properly .

I'll have a look on ebay but the one you posted is pick up only, needs to be delivered before Christmas.

The hard rock looks good but she wont budge on the budget. She was initially looking at £95 bikes so she wouldn't spend £275. Looking at £230 max and that would have to be free delivery.

Was hoping there would be a decent cheap bike i could recommend for her but it looks like she may as well have just got one from Halfords :(.

Sorry, i should have mentioned it is for her boyfriend.

I wish I'd have seen that site a few mins ago, I've told her to just get one from Halfords now as i cant find anything much better.

Say hello to bike #6

Roi Monster frame, Dura Ace 7800, FSA Carbon crank, carbon K-38 wheels, pristine condition. Guy paid £4500 for it, I paid £1500 :D

Pick it up in 2 weeks or so on my way up to..Falkirk! (I'm a Bairn in London)

It will be only ridden in dry/sunny, the 928 C2C will be the poorer weather bike. Will likely be on the turbo trainer until Easter :P

Whats the roads like up there? Bringing my Bianchi and turbo trainer to do a bit of training.

She got this one in the end. Should be good enough as a general purpose bike.

WAS £429.99 lol

Oh and made myself £12 through Quidco :D.

Poor guy :(

I would be my half empty bottle of irn bru, princgle and dip that the brakes will either be rubbing constnatly or the rotors buckled to ****. Takes about 30 minutes to get them acceptable to me...so a random halfords employee would just make the lever not hit the bar tbh.

Really poor bike!

Oh and weescott your a ****!!!!!!111!!!!11!!

Well I did ask for advice. My sister was itching to get something so she doesn't have to keep worrying about it coming before Christmas. The budget was £200 max, she wasn't happy about spending any more.

I agree its crap but tbh i had a similar spec bike (muddy fox) for a good few years and it was fine for general purpose riding. I would never go back to one now after owning my Giant XTC but for a new rider who will only be doing a few miles a week it should suffice.

Roads around here can vary greatly, surface quality wise. There are however some nice routes to be found locally. One I like is from my place out to Bowtrees, along through Airth continuing to Fallin, left at Stirling up past Bannockburn bus garage, road to Torwood through Plean and back to Larbert. Its a big loop that measures about 26 miles. It's my favorite training route, locally.

Theres some cracking roads out towards Fintry and Fankerton as well.:)

Finding it annoying not being able to get out on the roads and train what with the crummy weather we have been having. Rain and wind don't phase me at all but the ice recently has been treacherous. Left the house at 6.00am one morning last week on my usual commute and thought "Hmmm, this looks a bit slippy?" then promptly slid on my backside at the bottom of the hill at the end of my street when the front wheel just tucked under on black ice.

My Tacx Flow is sat here glaring at me every time I walk past it. :p

Curious, is your C2C the carbon framed one?.
