How durable are the overshoes? I was told that for mountain biking they get ripped up pretty quickly.

Well I use them for commuting only and with a bit of walking and obviously putting my foot down to stop I can't find any evidence of damage on the bottom. Basically the sole is open except for the top area which is covered with a thick grippy plastic with 2 velcro straps that go underneath to hold it in place - these are not damaged either.

I guess it would be ok for mountain biking unless you get off and run / walk a lot.

Maybe some nokian extremes? You may have to get them from Germany (www.bike24.com or www.bike-components.de) I got some schwalbe marathon winters but they are mainly for ice / compacted snow and don't do well on thick snow - in London though most roads are salted and other roads aren't that bad as the snow gets compacted and turned into slush. Check out peter white's website as he has quite a good section regarding studded tyres.

Well I ended up getting some mud tyres instead (Panaracer Trailraker 2.1's). With low pressures they seem pretty good - well, a lot better than the road biased ones I was using.

A quick un pack/peddle fit/bar straighten and et voila.
Will torque it all up tonight/weekend as well as swap the peddles for my 520's

better pics to follow, this was taken with the iPhone.

Some of my winter upgrades for one of my bikes have turned up, I particularly like these:

Elixir CR Mags. Preferred them over the XX's as they don't have the rotor size or pad restrictions.

Forks aint come back as of yet due to delays with post and snow :( Boo! Quite annoyed with the clunk out of the box. Ah well.. Warranty :D

Haha, looks like a very short hose on that :p

Im really missing being on my bike now.
Been building up a new bike on the cheap from ebay since beginning of december and i've got nothing else to ride meanwhile. Wont be long now tho - just waiting on the post :D

Just fitted a nice new shiny Thomson stem to the Stiffee, pretty much the last thing I had left that I wanted to do to it. Might have some pics tomorrow, but it is just a stem!

No way is it just a stem! Stems make a huge difference to a bike, and a Thomson one (I've got an Elite on my bike) is a damn sexy difference to make :D

Way too much fun with little bikes, lots of snow

edit: facebook video share fail. 2 secs while I figure it out
