Back to my issue with the Cove hanger, Can any one post up some photos of their Cove stiffee hangers.

Thanks

What exactly do you want pictures of? I'll try and sort some tonight.

The hanger, where the wheel axle goes. So at least when I have a puncture I can actually get the wheel out.

Gears all work perfectly with some tinkering with limit screws.

Just need CRC to sort there act out! Although i could buy one for £25. But shouldnt need to on a new Cove frame.

I can send you my spare hanger if you like? Brand spanker and perfectly straight. Just send me a new (straight :p) one back when you get it from CRC.

Thanks for the offer pal, Might as well get one from CRC. As the one that ive modified does the job.

I was in the saddle for 5 1/2 hours yesterday. Painfull today!

Hello all,

Any suggestions for a decent pump? I've got a Specialised Globe San Fransisco 1 bike that I use to commute to work on, I bought a cheap pump but it doesn't cut the mustard.

I think the inner tubes are specialised 'strader' and the tyres suggest between 35 and 80 psi, does this seem right? If so, what pump do you recommend to suit the above?

Cheaper and more value for money is a priority, any links appreciated.

I have a "Joe Blow" does the job well and has both Schrader and Presta valve outlets

That joe blow looks good but I forgot to mention I'd like something to carry in my bag in case of any punctures I can fix at the roadside with my spare inner tube.

I'd suggest getting a joe blow as well. I used to use a nice wee compact pump that fits in my camelback neatly. I used to get quite a few pinch punctures because i couldnt get enough pressure out of my mini pump.

I now have a joe blow to inflate my tires properly before i leave the house and keep the mini pump in my bag for punctures. Never had a pinch puncture since i bought the joe blow.

TLDR; a small pump for your bag is not as important as a proper track pump at home, get a joe blow and any cheap mini pump to use as a 'get me home' pump.

I've got a blackburn mountain air pump. Gets up to a decent pressure easily enough, but I don't run very high pressures.

Yeah, i didnt read Lead Head's post properly, just saw the word "commuter" and assumed he had a road bike.
Still you'll want to run the pressures near enough at the maximum for road riding, and 80psi is still quite a lot for a hand pump.

I use a topeak road morph, gets my road tyres up to 120psi easily. Larger tyres take a bit more effort but are still easily done.

No need to run the pressures at max, run them at the proper pressure - look at the pdf I linked. Higher pressure just means slightly less rolling resistance but much worse ride quality.

I've got a road morph as well, could be a mini morph though. Has served me very well with the fold out handle and foot stand. 120 psi is fairly easy.

However, I use a proper track pump, like the joe blow at home.

I have a floor pump at home, but it is a cheap one without a gauge, so I never really use it! Also switched all my tubes to presta as the road morph is pretty poor for schraeder, and I much prefer presta.

Are these joe blows quite robust? There seems to be a lot of spare parts and rebuild kits online. I don't want to be rebuilding a pump every 3 months.

Probably not hilarious, but you haven't seen it.

The lazy Downhiller's guide to: Walking your Dog
  • Don't ever really pedal while out riding?
  • Too lazy to take your dog for a long walk each day to tire him out enough?
  • Need to go to the shops for milk and bread?
Well I have the solution!
I present to you, a one dog powered push bike.

No animals were harmed in the filming of this video nor were pedals used for anything but a place to rest your feet. The stunts were performed by someone of an IQ less than 100 and should only be attempted by an idiot

Err, mines about a year old and still looks new. That said it's not been used an excessive amount.. but im sure it will last.
