Well, the once sparking shiny new looking bike is now plastered in mud.
Agreed to go for a ride with the lads from work, 2 of whom are doing this race later in the year.

Did some 20km or so around Witherslack. A nice mix between climbs and downhills but most of it covered in mud or shiny limestone on the downhills.
Need to learn to trust the bike more on the downhill stuff. Came off it once, nice slow fall.
Found that at least ive got some fitness left from when i was riding the road bike lots 12 months ago.
Mountain bike tyres are next to useless on tarmac, felt like i was riding through treacle.
But not bad considering its been over 15 yrs since i last went seriously off road on a mountain bike.

TIme to look at some tyres that work well in mud, currently running Kenda Nevegals and to get my Time Z freeride pedals fitted after the bike has been bathed in muc-off.

no.. thats why i asked around north london.. which wouldn't be a problem if they allowed bikes(not folding) inside train but they don't :/ best place i have found is alexandra palace but its just too busy to have fun really..

Here's my current weapon of choice: :D

Larvly bike. I wish I could justify a full DH bike but it's just not worth it when I ride some XC too.

What pedals do you have on your V10? They look like ones I'm going for.

That sucks, all of the train systems near me allow bikes on off peak.

I'm loving the bikes on here, thought I'd post mine and ask for some advice.

It's a bit old and I'm doing a lot of biking at trail centres and doing some long day epics in the highlands. So I either want to purchase a new bike or upgrade this one heavily.

I really like this bike but would like to get something like a Specialized FSR XC Expert. However I don't have a lot of money spare right now - Should I get new wheels and fork for this one now or save up long term for a new bike?

i've tried all the station around me :o well one day i'll enjoy something like that :D

A few of us (from the commuting forum on bikeradar) ride into Surrey/Kent from time to time. I'll give you a shout next time if you fancy tagging along, or you can just jump on the forum and take a look. Only problem is it's quite a trek for us North London lot just to get to and from the meeting point (I usually hit over 100k on one of these rides).

Next planned meet

Save up.

No point in replacing parts which are working if you're short of cash.
