Im probably going to be going to BUCS. If i do go, i'll be doing the xc for sure and possibly the downhill. I'll need a bit of persuading tho because im going on a cycling holiday in majorca the week after and have a habit of hurting myself doing dh.

Whats the deal with the xc sport and xc champs race? Am i right in thinking that each uni can only enter 4(?) people into the champs and the rest have to do the sport. This wont be a problem for me as i'll likely be the only person from my uni there :( but is there any restrictions on the champs entry other than this?

Ah right, have you done it before?
What sort of length will the course be?
What sort of level will the other guys be?

Basically...

The XC champs has the 4 best people from each uni, it's serious, there's lots of lyrca and energy gels, oh, and shaved legs.

The XC sport is the fun mass ride race just for BUCS points (which none actually cares about) it's a great laugh, all the downhillers stand on the edge of the hard bits of the loop and shout 'encouragement' :P
Don't worry at all about the XC sport, the keen guys are at the front at the start line, everyone else just rides along, a bit of chatting on the uphills, lots of funny stuff.

The course is usually 2-3 laps of an XC loop, an hour and a bit maybe. Last year I only did 2 out of the 3 laps because I'd had enough!

Does anyone know who stocks DT Swiss Competition black 1.8/1.6mm gauge spokes? They're the stock spokes on my Enduro and I'm having no luck trying to find a UK supplier :( everyone has the 1.8-2mm ones which I wish my Enduro had..

DT Comps are 2/1.8 butted. Super Comps are triple butted 2.0/1.7/1.8mm

I have armadillo 700x23 and they are brilliant - pretty harsh ride at 120psi but no punctures! Also have 700x35 nimbus tyres also good :) never tried marathon plus but I think they are heavier.
