Quality is the right word for Thomson, not the lightest, or the blingest, but something about them is just so nice..

Plus I now have my (wrongly spelled) surname on the front of my bike :D

Anyone here using a Fizik Arione?. I've had mine for a few months now and I just can't get used to the thing. I know they are an aquired taste and take a fair bit of getting used to but I'm giving up on it. Think I'll go back to the standard Pinarello MOst saddle that came on the bike and maybe try grabbing a Specialized BG Toupe or Phenom and see how that goes. I'm not a weight weenie by any manner of means so comfort is more important to me than weight and looks. ;)

Fizik are supposed to be very good. Brother in law has offered to lend me a Fizik saddle for my mountain bike. See if its any more comfortable than the WTB thats fitted.
I had a Spesh BG Alias on the TCR, was a cracking saddle, very nice plus you can get different widths. Wish i'd kept the Alias now and put the Selle Italia back on the TCR when i sold it. ho hum.

Blimey, eagle eyes :D

Yeah, its an 80mm 0˚ rise.
I'm torn between 0 and 10 degree rise, having never seen either I don't want to get the wrong one.

I'm going to up the length to 100m, and I'm not sure I want the front end any lower so 10degree looks like the one, but your 0 degree looks ideal too..... aaaarrrrrggggh!

Just for you Big Chris:

hehe cheers Weescott :D

Do you happen to have a 100mm 0 and 10 degree lying about you could post too? :p

Andi, that link's really useful cheers. Gonna go with 100mm 10 degree, I can always send it back if it's not right.

I'll have a 90mm 5 degree 25.4mm clamp Elite and some low-rise EA70's up for grabs soon if anyone's interested.

Some absolute machines in this thread, I have spent the past hour drooling and I only got back to page 200.

Anyway...

This is my Beer Belly Buster, I had not rode for about 8 years before i got this. Being a total bike noob, I used to have a P7 and liked it so i went for another orange.

Grrr, spent all weekend putting my single speed together (turns out it's going to be full fixed due to a mix-up with the rear hub) and I can't find my 1/8 chain.

Still, it's bloody pretty and I can't wait to get out on her.

So, I'm new to all this bike lark.. long time lurker of this thread though. I went out quite a few times on my no name old clunker bike with a friend of mine who's well into his XC stuff. Eventually I was popping up on the trails he showed me on my own, but my old bike wasn't up to task so I got something shiny and new:

2010 Rockhopper SL

Where I'd taken it a bit earlier:

Been great fun so far, the bike is of course far too much for me atm, but I'd rather buy something decent the first time and work into it. The difference compared to my old bike is hilarious though, brakes are so much more powerful, and combined with how much lighter is, it feels completely different to say the least!

Got tonnes of questions, but the main one so far is what do you guys do after you've been out on a run? So far everytime I've come back I've just hosed the mud off with some water, and ran over it quickly with a sponge.

Nice bike.

After each ride I wash, dry and re lube everything; it takes me about 45-60 mins.
Steps - hose off lose mud, fairly liquid soap wash bike with brush, hose off again, dry complete bike, small GT85 squirt on seat rails & rear & front derailleur and lightly lube chain with wet or dry lube......done :)

That's not much of a challenge for you is it? Especially when you can do it in 1 ride.
Are you riding alone? Dont think i could do 100 miles by myself.
Just reread this, the challenge I set myself was a century a month, meaning at least 1 ride of a 100miles each month on top of any other rides I do. I'd never ridden a century until last year when I did 4 dirty and 1 road century.

To the person above washing his bike, don't spray the hose near the hubs, headset, bottom bracket or fork seals.

Rinse off, liberal coating of Fenwicks mixed strong, hose off. Lube chain every few rides.

Occasionally go into a bit more detail, but more often than not, thats enough to keep even my white bike nice and clean.

Nice bike! If my bike is absolutely caked in mud (like it has been with the weather recently) then I give it a hose down whilst the mud is still wet (it comes off easier that way), I then dry my drivetrain down with an old rag and get lubed up (I'm using some wet weather lube at the moment), this stops everything from drying out/going rusty. If it's not that muddy then I generally leave the dirt and slightly re-lube.

Once every 2/3 rides I'll give everything a proper clean using some muck off and my cleaning brushes.

Yes, thanks. I should've been more specific . . Was only using a low power hose on the frame to loosen off the mud on the underside.

So I guess this coming weekend I need to get myself some lube, degreaser and the like. Any recommended lubes for the current crappy conditions?

Thanks for the advice so far.
