I use Finish Line Wet Lube as well, my bike has been in storage over the winter months and it still rust free. I used some dry lube before i got that and the chain began to rust after one outing in the wet.

cool, i just saw the website and it says "A heavier, wet-style lubricant that requires a little more attention to drivetrain cleanliness, but delivers the ultimate in lubricity and protection.", should i clean the chain first with a toothbrush or something?

also, whats the correct method of tightening the quick release wheel skewer?

cheers

You being serious? Just push it ;) Just do it so its hard enough to push against that it leaves a slight red mark on your hand after you've closed it.

Some nice bikes in this thread.. Just been out on mine in the snow and rain.. fun :p Managed to completely snap the front disc off the hub though :o Not fun considering their brand new brakes :(

Tell me about it.. Was hanging off the front brake wondering why nothing was happening.. only to realise the disc had stopped.. but the wheel was still moving lol

That some mad funky chit. Warranty?

I was out for a blast on one of my local trails on Saturday. Cycling in snow is fun but darn knackering!

So much for the Heckler's tyre clearance:

I think I've finally decided on my next steed. Another 29er as I've enjoyed my hardtail 29er so much.

Turner Sultan in black, with a Reba Race converted to 100mm up front. Hopefully to look something like this:

More travel please sir!
Not too many choices in 29er forks still. Besides apart from cranks and headset I'm going to transplant everything from my Paragon. So fingers crossed I can get it done for about £1100.

Me too, 2 months without a single turn of the crank and went for a ride and still the same as before. No rust.

It was hard enough to walk in riding in it must kill !
On Saturday I only covered 14 miles in 2 hours due to constant hard pedalling through snow. A good cardio work out though :)

i cant believe i've never noticed this thread before, god its been ages since i've been out for a good ride on my bike, work and other commitments pretty much pushed the bike out of the window for the last couple of years

when i do get to ride i'm still beating about on the old karpiel
i just cant bare to part with her even though i rarely get near the hills these days.
