Big ol' Burger Comparison Thread

When cycling London to Paris and desperate for food in France I had a Grand Big Mac. Tasted awesome with a couple of hundred miles in my legs but I can't imagine ever going for one in other circumstances.

A deep fried frozen pizza from a chippy in Oban tasted pretty awesome to me after a days cycling through hills in the drizzle too, but I'm not sure I'd order it as a death row dish..

Just got home from Handmade Burger Co Reading, was my first time there. Went for the Peppered Beef and mexican fries. The burger was really good, probably one of the best in recent memory.

The only down point I had was the fries, I guess it was a slice of cheese used over the top so it wasn't really mixed in, but the chipotla mayo was ace. Price wasn't too bad really, it helps their kids menu is just £5 including drinks and ice cream.

As chance would have it, I ended up in 5 guys for lunch today. Bacon cheeseburger, fried onions, pickles, ketchup and mustard (Classic BDCB). Much the best burger I've had from them, less is definitely more with the toppings. The star for me surprisingly was the chips. So much better than I've had from that restaurant before, I can now see why people think they're good. It's just a shame thy're not always like that.
Doesn't change my personal opinion that Byron burger is better, but for once they justified their premium over McDs and BK.

I guess the chips are so variable because they constantly switch supplier.

I know it’s not the best, but has anyone seen the grand Big Mac yet?

I have had one. My little one goes there as special treat sometimes and I though why the hell not.

The only point of note (as it tastes exactly the same) is that I had the send mine back. Somehow the person who built it managed to get it wrong so my first one was top bun, middle bread, burger, burger, bottom bun.

Deary me, surely constructing a Big Mac is McDonalds 101 :p

Have to say I was very, very impressed. Given one without being told what it was I'd have said it was a great, juicy burger. In fact i'd go so far as to put it up there with one of the best burgers i've had

(PS did have the maple bacon fries on the side to level things out)

(PPS for those that don't know its a 100% vegetarian burger - https://www.impossiblefoods.com/burger/)

Tried BRGR today in Glasgow (Royal Exchange Square)

Went for the poutine, cheese & bacon burger and chocolate milkshake.

It was very good!

Had five guys for the first time since it was the only place not closed on account of the weather. For £13 each for a burger and large fries, a bit disappointing really.

7bone and honest are still kings in Reading.

In and Out for lunch today: Double Double, animal style fries (the only way to make them taste any good tbh) and a vanilla shake (complete with hidden bible references)
