Saw a programme today where a professional bike thief gang stole a new ducati panigale from a filling station while the owner went to pay for the petrol

He must not have put the steering lock on? But it took seconds to steal and it was fitted with a tracker,it ended up in Lithuania and they recovered it

I always put my steering lock on not even because I'm that worried someone will nick it but to stop some donkey trying to push it out of the way while I'm paying if there's a queue.

You got an online link or something for me to search for? Its crazy how fast bikes can be stolen.

It is, my mate at work got himself a brand new ktm SD 1290, parked outside tesco for 2 minutes to use the cash point and 3 blokes pulled up in a van and lifted it straight in, early afternoon in a busy area. The cctv shows it took them just 30 seconds and they were gone!

Years ago a mate of mine had a zzr600,
He stopped for a drink on the way home at some random place.
parked the bike right outside the window of the pub, he only went though 2 doors to get to the bar and looked round to see his bike being ridden off.

Another was followed home from work, she parked her Ducati monster up and nipped inside to open the locked gate and it was nicked before she could open it.
This was at 5.30am and she didn't leave the keys in it.

I never let anyone follow me when I'm getting near home, if anything behind me and taking the same turns as me I ride on and shake them before going home.

Hmm... a Ducati. in London. Parked up with no steering lock. he even left his helmet on the bike... I wouldn't leave my helmet on my bike anywhere public unless it was locked to it.

And he's an investment banker, in London, and can only afford an 899 panigale? he's not a very good investment banker then! :p:D

What helmet did he have?

BTW Are you going to buy the new Xiaomi Yi2 when it comes out? There's been leaks posted on one closed group about the Yi2, although I didn't screenshot it and it was instantly deleted. Looks like it most certainly it'll have infinity focus! :D

Some Shark red one, nowt special I don't think.

Not seen anything about the Yi2, if they make it with a mic port and case that can use it it'll be a proper rival to the gopros. Although superview...

Since getting my L's off, I get a *lot* more nods and thumbs up :)

Before passing my test I used to nod to other bikes and would get some right dirty looks back ahah :D

Seeing it from both sides - I can understand as I've had some L platers driving like right idiots around town. Not only that it's a right of passage and you've now seen it though.

It feels great to get the recognition doesn't it :)

i always nod to L platers on a 125, not peds though :p

i remember when i was nervous as **** on my lessons (did das) the odd nod from that guy on the r1 in full leathers or the old dude on his tourer with his misuses really helped.

dunno why tbh, just seemed to make the roads less scary.

I nod to anyone, which has included some scooters and those strange 3 wheel'd things. They were an accident though don't judge me!

Always nod people on their lessons although they usually just look confused while the instructor gives me a nod or a wave.

A scrote can sit on the seat, put both feet up onto the bars and force a steering lock in about 3 seconds flat. It's a deterrent for a super easy roll away only, can still roll the thing away with it on..just need a few extra seconds.

If someone feels the need to force my steering lock to save themselves 30 seconds at the petrol station then I fear they have bigger issues :p

Got my MOD 1 test next week and MOD 2 the week after (if all goes to plan).

Already got a bike lined up for when I pass which is hopefully the bank holiday weekend - SV650s having previously ridden the RS125 for 4 years - about 6 years ago.

Cant wait to get out this summer :D

Good luck and good choice of bike :D

Does anyone know if there is such a thing as a waterproof summer style glove, what I mean is the same sort of thickness and feel of a summer glove but with some thing like a Gortex lining.

I'm not after any sort of insulation it would just be nice to keep the water off my hands some mornings.
