Also put an offer in of £250 for some colour matched lowers for the SV, I know it'll be rejected but thought I'd give it a shot.
They came back with a counter offer of £278.95 posted, a whole fiver off the buy it now price.

Not sure why they even bothered allowing offers :D

Picked up a non cracked set of seat fairings for the YBR in the original silver rather than the black that's on there now for £20 bargain, just needs a silver front mudguard now and it'll be back to stock and looking much better.

So, been doing some research on what braided brake lines to get, found some posts on other forums about people saying Cobra Performance are licensed under Hel but nothing confirmed or concrete about it.

So yesterday i emailed CP and to confirm, their response was:

We are supplied by Hel with all of our component parts to make the lines up.
We use the same equipment and processes as Hel.
I was trained in the Hel Factory.

Regards
Rich

They only sell via ebay now: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/cp-racetec/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=25&_trksid=p3692

Just thought i would pass this info on, for my Hornet a full set of 2x front race setup and 1x rear £59.99 delivered with lifetime warranty, they will also send a few P clips if asked for free, cant go wrong at all.

on another note, anyone used Red Rubber Grease? i am rebuilding my calipers, waiting for the rebuild kit and Red Grease to arrive.

having a look here shows how to use it, does it seem a bit extreme?
http://www.redrubbergrease.com/tips-how-to-brake-caliper-failure-repair-with-rebuild-kit.html

how much is actually needed? smear the seals inside and out, fit seals, smear piston with Red Grease and pop it in, then lube the inside of the rubber boots and slider pins.

I've always just smeared seals and pistons with brake fluid which is what they recommend in the workshop manual and in Haynes (and a few other places I've come across).

Then silicon based grease on the slider pins and a little copper grease on the slider pin thread (or pad retaining pin, whatever you want to call it).

Note to self do not order fairing panels based on eBay listings, if they're to be believed then from 2005-2010 the YBR seat panels are all the same.
They're not.
Just managed to pick up all the right bits for a little under £50 still better than the best part of £100 brand new I suppose.

I'm dreading having to ride it the whole 2 miles for it's MOT though, it was bad enough getting back on it after a day of doing my DAS training never mind over 6 months hooning around on the SV.

No car, it was a disaster... the mechanic that changed the cam belt has obviously F UP badly.

More moneysss towards a bike, right? :D

*sigh.... insurance.

£4k's worth of Aprilia Tuono 1000R (Gen2) - £365 fully comp. Lovely Jubbly.
£4k's worth of Aprilia RSV 1000R (Gen2) - The EXACT same bike (literally, all they did was remove the fairings and add normal bars, everything else is identical) - £740 fully comp.

Agreed! Insurance makes no sense but I'd be insanely pleased with both those quotes. I don't even want to think what they'll charge me if I'm lucky enough to be able to afford a new bike later this year.

I may be able to, it'll be a weekend though if I have a ride out - I'll let you know if I do.

I take it you're looking for a naked sv650 now?

And yeah, it's depressing that essentially the exact same bike is ruled out just because it's a 'sports' bike. Even 11 grands worth of pikes peak Multistrada isn't anywhere near that at £580 fully comp! I draw the line at £600 a year insurance fully comp, anything above that is extracting the urine a little! :p

But guess which ones are getting wrapped round trees
Yep, unfortunately it's all down to stats and sports bike riders most probably crash a lot more :p

I suppose that's one of the benefits of being old...er :p Having your licence a year helps loads too, a street triple was £500 a year for me fully comp as a new rider, now... just over £300 :D

I always preferred the naked version, but due to availability and no wind protection I wanted to go for the faired version. But I don't care anymore, I'll just go for what I want. I only like Sports and Naked's, Sport tourers etc are not my thing...

No more cars, that's for sure lol.

Perfect, you are forced to buy the better bike :D

Unless you're a wannabe GP3 racer who only hits the tracks :p ;)

Yeah I'm 35 and paid I think it was £1100 for my NC700. I keep fantasising about buying another bike and then I remember that I might not just face the problem of not being able to afford insurance but they may not insure me at all on certain bikes.:(

What?!? How's that possible, you either had some kind of claims/convictions or you live in very bad area... Postcode insurance ratings

I'll check my insurance for a naked SV and edit this post. brb

Nah I do prefer naked bikes, I've never been into sportbikes. It's just there aren't many Gen2 tuono's about.

I'm 35 in May, but don't live in London. That's the difference, and you're right - good luck getting insured on something nice in London.

Outside the M25 and you'd be fine. I'm only 16 miles from the M25 but it makes a world of difference.
