There are quite a few available but i haven't made my mind up whether or not i'll change it, i'm not giving anyone a bike with a new exhaust again :p

What's the opinion of the supercorsas? I don't mind using them but i know they aren't an all round tyre.
 
Why not go for the cheaper ones, scorpion or remus? Branded, and a very nice can. Or could go second hand arrow.

Judging by my comment on tyres, don't think they are a commuter or winter tyre, just a summer tyre. Soft compound.

As you say they aren't the best all rounder, but they're a v good tyre and you've got them on for the right time of year, you just have to be mindful of allowing them to warm up on cooler days before pushing on. Once the sun comes out and warms the tarmac they're extremely grippy, you won't find the limit of them on our roads. Unless your name is Shakey Byrne ;)
 
Anyone owned a CBR900RR, 90's fireblade?

You can pick these up for not much over a couple of grand for a '96-'99 model with about 20k on the clock, I know the engines are good for 5x times that mileage. How are they for the taller gentleman? How are they for daily use, i.e mostly commuting?

I know they have the 16" front wheel which can make tyre choice limited, and the pre-'98 ones with mild steel headers have the normal Honda rust issue.

My mate has a '96 Fireblade (the 919cc engine), bought it for £1800 with loads of extras. It's a grey import and had everything changed to UK/EU spec sometime in the late 90s.

It's pretty solid, the rear shock has gone and needs replacing, carbs are leaking so he's been having them overhauled over the winter. Other than that it's a good bike that goes well and starts on the button everytime, typical Honda! A lot of bike for not much money and iconic.

Cheers, yeah they are a lot of bike for the money, and they're not going down in value.

I really want to change my everyday/commuter bike, the CB400 is great but as I've said before it's getting on in miles (not that far off 50k) and everything is getting a bit heavy, or is starting to need constant attention.

It doesn't look like i'll have the money to get a better (£3500) replacement by next winter so the idea of picking up a more youthful (as in less miles) bike for a couple of grand is appealing. TPFT insurance is £211, or fully comp for £390, MPG seems reasonable at 45-50mpg (I get 52-54mpg out the CB400).
 
The only problem I'd think you'd have is the riding position, he's 5' 10 and it fits him like a glove, I'm 6' 1 and my knees were slightly cramped, but then again no more so than sitting on my S1000RR.

You're more into your street bike riding position aren't you? Weight will definitely be on your wrists when filtering to/from work. Worth bearing in mind. It's not so bad on dual carriageways/motorways because the wind is on your chest and supporting you somewhat.

That's a v clean example there, like you say, you're not going to lose money on it, those white wheels though... high maintenance for a daily runner!
 
Yeah the riding position is a lot more forward, should be OK for a 45 minute commute though. My legs won't be any more bent. Steering lock (lack of it!) might be more of an issue, but there's not many times I need to slalom between cars. Dual headlights with h4 bulbs means an easy swap to LED's too :D

Probably won't be that bike but I may have a look at the weekend, would need to sell my CB400 first.
 
Those blades are still one of the best looking bikes ever made imo. As a kid they were what I wanted when I grew up. Most of the other kids had Lambos and Ferraris all over their pencil cases. Not me, Fireblade all the way. Still have a very soft spot for them. Do it Paul :)
 
Anyone know what the cables and connectors are for in the Triumph LED indicator relay kit?

I got mine today and have just replaced the old relay with the new, it dropped straight in place of the old relay, so I didn't need any of the cables :confused:
 
Yeah, revs to 12.5k, 107bhp too ;)

The new ones have less power (2009-2011 107hp, 2012 109hp, 2013-2016 105hp) than the older ones and have a longer first and second gear making acceleration worse and less keen to wheelie.

Their top speed in second is higher than the old ones though due to the longer gearing.
 
Me and my mate were supposed to join some other mates and ride round Northern France for the weekend, but the weather over there looks shocking for these two days, so stayed local. Rode down to Loomies and was heading on to Bournemouth when I noticed a lot of water on my left boot.

Pulled over at a Ford Showroom just off the M3 (or A31?) and could see a fine mist of coolant being sprayed forward out of my radiator :(

Thankfully the AA mans sealant did the trick, got back to Hemel with 10 minutes to spare before closing to leave the bike with them to fix or replace. New radiator is £400 :(

Then riding home we got rained on quite heavily... very cold!

Now on a 990 Adventure which my mate jokes looks like a boat, but is really nice and comfy to ride.

Love using Sena 20S voice comms when riding with mates. Almost can't imaging riding without them now!
