The EVO engine can take more abuse/power than Scooby, I've seen loads pushing out 900-1000bhp+, have a look at 1320 videos for examples.

Edit

@Clov!s Just get a Tuono or RSV4, I doubt you'll complain about lack of power or bad handling. Both bikes are absolute beasts :D

Can't you just leave him the money whilst you go for a test ride and tell him that if you bin it you'll pay for the damage or buy it off him? That's what I did when I was selling my KTM, made it really clear that I won't give all the money back unless the bike comes back in the same condition he rode off on.

Yeah that's an option, there's a couple of things I forgot to check that really need a test ride to check too (wheel/headstock bearings, check the brake discs aren't warped) but it's got zero advisories on the last few MOTs, so...

I'll look at another one on Saturday which I should be able to test ride, then go from there.
You aren't riding it hard enough :p

I definitely need a 1000cc bike, got done by a Mistubishi Evo 8, probably kicking out over 400bhp, this thing just pulled away so quick, even hard acceleration i had no chance of keeping up with it. Annoyed me :p

That was sitting on the motorway at 70-80mph for 70 miles, commuting it's been coming on at 95 miles!! At least I know I can get 140 miles out of a tank at cruising speed.

1000cc doesn't guarantee beating a car away from the line, the car (especially a 4wd) can just gun it, on my Tuono if you give too much throttle in 1st the front will come up quicker than you know it! 2nd gear rolling from about 20mph though, you'll have him. :D Still have to watch for wheelies though.

I've been looking at the Tuono 1000 V4 and the BMW S1000R, both are options though still very different bikes. Too many choices, at least if i pick the wrong one, i'll just swap it :p
Get Tuono, I know 2 people that had Tuonos went for S1000R and after short period went back to Tuono.

Seen it, wouldn't mind having a go as a passenger in it! :D

Yep, test ride is mandatory imho. I don't get people who buy 2nd hand bikes without testing them beforehand...

My SV can lift its front when you're aggressive with the throttle in 2nd, so I would imagine I could make your Tuono wheelie in 3rd without trying. :D :p

3rd gear it probably will too, I'm not talking about clutching it up, just power wheelies.

I'm not used to the power enough yet thought to start intentionally lifting the front wheel :p

The 1290 must be hard to keep the front on the floor, short gearing and over 100 torques is another world vs my paltry 86 torques. :D

And test rdes aren't always possible, my Tuono was in Northern Ireland so unless I flew over it was impossble.

Not decided yet. I'd probably go for finance if 0% APR, or a bank loan if they can't offer me 0%. Maybe PCP then just upgrade after 3 years. Need to think about that.

I don't think i'd qualify for dealer finance or a bank loan after having bad credit growing up, only way for me is to pay cash. Not a problem for me but i'd like to get a finance option so i can spec a bike how i like.

Only problem paying cash is you're losing even more money cos then you can't make interest on that £14k+. How long has it been since your bad credit? I'd try anyway, see what happens.

With the slip on akra, tail tidy, quick shift + (downshift blip and adaptive) and a couple of other bits, it comes out to £15.5k or so for me, so if you save an extra £2k, you'll get some nice extras on there.

It's been about 3 years since my last payment, Checking my Experian credit report i have 850 which is considered 'Good' yet if i check noddle it's 2 out of 5 which is poor. Depends who the finance company use for their credit check.

The street triple should be fine, although don't you have the newer one with less power and longer gearing?

105bhp but longer gearing.

Just found a lovely tuono v4, not a factory or APRC though which is a bit annoying.

Did you ride the S1000r before you rode your Tuono or ridden one at any time?

There's **** all interest available at the moment. Things might change in the second half of the year onwards though, as interest rates may rise at which point 0% interest will likely become increasingly difficult to obtain. Personal view only though - I'm pretty debt phobic.
