Test rode the new SuperDuke 1290 today. Seriously considering selling my bike to get one!
Would you look at finance or buy it out right?

The EVO engine can take more abuse/power than Scooby, I've seen loads pushing out 900-1000bhp+, have a look at 1320 videos for examples.
Edit
@Clov!s Just get a Tuono or RSV4, I doubt you'll complain about lack of power or bad handling. Both bikes are absolute beasts![]()
Can't you just leave him the money whilst you go for a test ride and tell him that if you bin it you'll pay for the damage or buy it off him? That's what I did when I was selling my KTM, made it really clear that I won't give all the money back unless the bike comes back in the same condition he rode off on.
You aren't riding it hard enough
I definitely need a 1000cc bike, got done by a Mistubishi Evo 8, probably kicking out over 400bhp, this thing just pulled away so quick, even hard acceleration i had no chance of keeping up with it. Annoyed me![]()
Get Tuono, I know 2 people that had Tuonos went for S1000R and after short period went back to Tuono.I've been looking at the Tuono 1000 V4 and the BMW S1000R, both are options though still very different bikes. Too many choices, at least if i pick the wrong one, i'll just swap it![]()
Seen it, wouldn't mind having a go as a passenger in it!http://jalopnik.com/here-is-a-*******-crazy-eight-second-mitsubishi-evo-1794431910
Yep, test ride is mandatory imho. I don't get people who buy 2nd hand bikes without testing them beforehand...Yeah that's an option, there's a couple of things I forgot to check that really need a test ride to check too (wheel/headstock bearings, check the brake discs aren't warped) but it's got zero advisories on the last few MOTs, so...
I'll look at another one on Saturday which I should be able to test ride, then go from there.
1000cc doesn't guarantee beating a car away from the line, the car (especially a 4wd) can just gun it, on my Tuono if you give too much throttle in 1st the front will come up quicker than you know it! 2nd gear rolling from about 20mph though, you'll have him.Still have to watch for wheelies though.
My SV can lift its front when you're aggressive with the throttle in 2nd, so I would imagine I could make your Tuono wheelie in 3rd without trying.![]()

Might wanna check your figuress1000r has 113ft-lb of torque, pulls like crazy through the rev range.
Might wanna check your figures
That's 113NM, or 83lbft.
Mine has 86lbft, a 1290 superduke has over 100lbft.

The 1290 must be hard to keep the front on the floor,
Not decided yet. I'd probably go for finance if 0% APR, or a bank loan if they can't offer me 0%. Maybe PCP then just upgrade after 3 years. Need to think about that.
Only problem paying cash is you're losing even more money cos then you can't make interest on that £14k+. How long has it been since your bad credit? I'd try anyway, see what happens.
With the slip on akra, tail tidy, quick shift + (downshift blip and adaptive) and a couple of other bits, it comes out to £15.5k or so for me, so if you save an extra £2k, you'll get some nice extras on there.

The street triple should be fine, although don't you have the newer one with less power and longer gearing?

Get an APRC model, the non-APRC ones will be much harder to flog on in 2/4/6 months time105bhp but longer gearing.
Just found a lovely tuono v4, not a factory or APRC though which is a bit annoying.
Did you ride the S1000r before you rode your Tuono or ridden one at any time?
