105bhp but longer gearing.

Just found a lovely tuono v4, not a factory or APRC though which is a bit annoying.

Did you ride the S1000r before you rode your Tuono or ridden one at any time?

Yeah that's down by a few hp.

I rode the S1000R quite a bit before choosing the Tuono. Why do you ask?

Does anyone have a Sena headset with the decent speakers (silver rimmed ones) in a noisy helmet, like an arai?

I've got a cheapo £35 headset at the minute and the volume above 60 isn't sufficient to hear anything, looking at getting a 10S to replace it but none of the reviews mention volume!! Can you hear music/sat nav instructions clearly at 80mph?

If the French laws allowed it I'd get the 10S and a set of shure earphones but they don't allow any earphones, just fitted speakers.

I'd ignore that, all the French bikers do.

It's legal to have headphones in as long as they're not connected to anything ;)

How did it compare to the Tuono v4?

They are quite different bikes but it was difficult to choose between them to be honest. The S1000R is one of the best bikes I have ever ridden and it really flatters the rider with all of its rider aids. The only flaw worth mentioning is the electronics for the suspension made me feel uneasy in the mountains. You can feel it change settings which unsettles the bike but I don't know if you can turn it off.

The Tuono is a more raw experience with frankly the best soundtrack I have ever heard. You need to be paying more attention on the Tuono and it is a more exhilarating experience. That grin factor is what made me choose the Tuono, plus it's beautiful.

For riding long distances to the mountains and then spanking the bike at the passes you would be hard pressed to find a better bike than the S1000R.

Edit: Watch out for buzzy pegs on the S1000R! My toes went numb and while they have fixed the buzzy bars on the newer models the pegs are still atrocious. Not everyone notices this but it was present on the three separate bikes I tried (2014, 2016, 2017).

I can hear my Sena 20S nicely with earplugs in (can't really hear if somebody talks to me directly to give you an idea of how much noise my earplugs block out). My brother had his Sena 20S in a Shoei originally and that worked fine in terms of noise/sound.

Been in huge amount of wind, >80mph, ridiculously noisy bikes, rain, lots of motorway and never had a problem hearing the 20s. And that's me on my Speed/Hornet and my brother on his Bonneville normally, so no wind protection from the bikes.

My only complaint is the range compared to what they advertised, there's no way it's 2km. It's not bad at all though.

Plus if you have an unlimited call plan or unlimited data plan on your phone, you could call through that and have telephone range as long as you keep signal :)

While we're on the subject :) I finally got round to reviewing my Sena 20S -

For me, using the spacers made a huge difference, much louder and some bass. I wouldn't say I have any issues, up to... fast speeds, in a Shoei on a naked bike.

Agreed about the range, I call it only about 100m, but that might be being a little harsh.

Awesome thanks guys :D

Yeah with my earplugs in someone speaking to me needs to be within 5ft or I can't hear a thing :D

The 10s has the same speakers as the 20s so that's good. I need music for the 6+ hour slog down to the B500 on the first day of the Alps trip, and for the 8 hour slog home from the Alps. The Arai isn't that noisy but having music/radio to listen to will make it so much more pleasant.

Had a really bad tank slapper, now have to keep my hand in this crap for a week or so... :( Didn't crash tho! :p

Thanks for that, I'm going to look at one today, prices don't seem to be dropping much from new.

Time to start dialling it back a bit?
Yeah, got a bit too confident whilst building the confidence back up after the lowside.
Is tank slapper the nice way of saying chronic masturbation injury?
LMAO :p :D
What led to the tank slap?

:eek::D
I'm going to guess at the front wheel coming back down
Was coming out of a corner, there was like a dip and since I was hard on the throttle the front lifted up and when I landed it, it started. Nearly threw me off the bike, but I held on tight...
Its the only way an SV is going to get a tank slapper :p
I didn't think it would be possible to get a tank slapper on the SV, looks like I was wrong... lol
