Passed my test end of March, had the bike for 6 weeks so not much experience but starting to feel comfortable on the bike and overtaking etc.

I was paired up with a guy who also passed his test in March (they try and pair up similar machines*/experience as best as possible) - though I was a fair bit quicker than he was. Sounds like some of the other groups were really moving so I'd likely have been left for dust with them. It was no problem though, the police stick to the lead rider so you can still be assessed, just meant we'd stop occasionally to let him catch up. He never ended up more than a couple of minutes behind.

On the way back I overtook another group that was just police plus 1 rider, the guy I was paired with ended up being picked up by that group so I rode the last 10 or so miles back just me and the policeman.

* I was on a bandit 1250 while he was on a cb500 - perhaps a little unfair when I'm using the power to do 3 car overtakes in one go.

Nothing like some penis trying to out accelerate you when you're heading towards a bend on an overtake

Certainly woke me up.

I can't believe some little **** has stolen my paddock bobbins off my bike, just cleaned it and tried to put the stand on, wonder how long they've been missing!

Finally got through my pack of 100 ear plugs, the Laser Lite yellow / pink ones.

Anyone recommend some more? Either disposable, or one of the more expensive re-usable ones might be nice. The ones I had weren't that great at blocking out the right sort of noise and I literally couldn't hear anyone or anything.

Pinlock, Auritech and Alpine all do some 'motorcycle' specific ones with a nice case etc. I don't mind spending that much (£15-20), but they all get such mixed reviews so I'm not sure.

Love it, been using it day 1 since I got my Speed Triple. Loads of good reviews. You spray it on, leave for 30 mins or so, hose off. Especially good to keep harder to reach places clean.

Also adds a layer of anti rust stuff.

TBH, I find elbow grease just as good for shifting greasy mucky bits lower down on the bike. A pound a bottle or less too.

I used to use sdoc100 gel cleaner, but it's expensive.

This swingarm/sprocket was cleaned with elbowgrease and paraffin.

Yeah elbow grease is good, I use it on both bikes swingarms when they're particularly bad. Sdoc is used for my weekly clean and does a good job of keeping on top of it. I also like the anti rust stuff whereas elbow grease will just strip everything off

God I hate breaking in new gloves :(

When you've been wearing your last pair of gloves for about 20k miles and they fit like, well... a glove, new ones feel so uncomfortable.

Same. It's the same with new boots. New boots magically move the gear and brake levers like some sort of voodoo magic devilry :(

Yeah, I'll be wearing them all this week if it's dry, hopefully after 4x 45 minute commutes they'll be comfortable enough to wear for about 7 hours straight on Saturday... And the same on Sunday, and monday :(:o

Got the same thing at the moment with my waterproof gloves, its a horrible feeling! I also need some new summer gloves, my thumb might be poking out of my trusty Alpinestar SP gloves : ( I have got about 8 years use out of them....
