Is anyone running a 6x4 plate? I remember having a 7x5 and never had any issues with it, but some bikes I'm considering would look better with a 6x4. :p

I like to blend in personally. I can ride like an absolute lunatic and the second I see the popo I just hit the anchors and look like Doris on her way to Bingo. Things like small plates just draw attention.

Agree. Being a grownup makes such decisions easier :). I believe letters have to be 64mm tall so we're already over 4 inches before padding etc.

I'm considering a second bike - how does insurance/NCBs work on a second bike? I assume it's like car insurance, you an only have one NCB on one policy, or are multi-bike policies a thing?

I've also just ordered a couple of new ignition coils to try and sort the poor running on the GPZ. Will have to see if this finally sorts the crappy running!

Ta :)

Exactly the same as cars you can either have a separate policy which obviously means no NCD on one of them or you can get multi bike from somewhere like Bennets

My bike (note with a standard exhaust) is very loud at low rpm's, even tickover. tbh i feel a bit self conscious when starting it up in my street :D on the upside it does alert other road users/pedestrians of your presence.

As do exhaust systems that are stupidly loud even at low RPMs.

There's a youngster local to here who has a CBR125R with a fart can on it. He revs the absolute nuts off it every single time he rides it, you can almost feel the macho emanating from him as he comes past on what sounds like a lawnmower with a knackered exhaust. I watch people tut and express their disgust as he goes past but his whole body language is "the ladies are currently spreading their cheeks for me" - it's great. Reminds me of when I was a wee lad with a tuned up two-stroke, I felt like the king of the world as I came past on a bike screaming its nuts off at 50mph :D

Been thinking about getting something with a bit more pep as a second bike. I'd still like the option to ride all year round. I had idly been thinking about a few year old ZX6R 636 but the older ZX9R has come up on my radar and looks like it might fit the bill. Not an all out sport bike like the ZX6, so maybe a nicer, more comfy place to be? I certainly like the styling of them as it looks like a sport bike. Seems that a 2000 year model can be had for a couple grand. Good idea or nah?
Cheers!

My old ZX9R (and Tuono), which I loved until a kind lady reversed over it whilst I was filling up with petrol!
It's a brilliant all rounder and theres plenty of fun to be had when needed..

I had a cyclist pull out on me today, thankfully was going a low speed.

Regardless, fair bit of damage to the bike which will cost about £390 to repair excluding the tank fairing.
Plus my 2 month old Shoei hit the ground hard on the chin bar, got a nice lump where my microphone was. heh It did its job though.

Cyclist went away with some minor cuts and bruises quickly after it happened.

Anyone know of an inexpensive way to repair plastic fairings or am I better taking it to a body shop?
A new fairing costs £290 on its own!
