Glad to hear it's changed. Have they made it any longer? Don't think I got out of 3rd.

Done a few trackdays in the wet. Donnington was fun, although people were dropping like flys at melbourn loop. Oulten isn't to bad in the wet. It's a pretty grippy track and just so much fun. It's only 20 mins away which is prob why I have done it so many times. Awesome track, even with the stupid changes they made a few years ago.

You certainly get out of 3rd on the back straight now, trick is to still keep it pinned after it starts to bank right before the proper apex, if theres not too much traffic and youve got the nerve you can fly past people doing about 150 where people have started to brake too early :D

Oh and an FYI for people down south who are interested in the new Knox Handroid gloves, Mott Motorcycles near Basingstoke are the only ones to my knowledge in Hampshire to have them in stock now, I think im going to go up Saturday morning to see what size I will need when I come to buy some :p

How was the bike show?

Bit vanilla to be honest. other than the custom bikes and old school ones nothing realy caught my eye.

I got a pair of gloves and my mate got a Caberg Carbon lid. Online going for about 280 he got it for 180 so thought that was a bargain.

My missus bought me a track evening at Knockhill for Christmas and I've been looking forward to the weather when I can get out and enjoy it. At the same time I'm a bit apprehensive because I don't have super sticky rubber.

I'm running Pirelli Angel ST tyres with about 1,500 miles on them. How would you feel about venturing out on the track with sports touring tyres? I'm pretty confident on the bike and have a few years of road riding experience in all weathers.

What d'ya think?

No offense. but that's the worst question you could ever ask, and I'm sure people will agree. If someone tells you the tires you have are wrong it will screw with your head.

i know a few it has just happened to and now are scared to open it up.

Like a lot of people have said to me just because a tire is right for them on a particular bike doesn't mean its right for you on the same. its all down to preference and use.

I can vouch that the tires my uncle had on the VFR were great for him. but to myself i find they are complete and utter crap (Metzler lazertech)

yep, swine of a question to ask. If you took it easy and didnt push to hard then they would no doubt be fine, trouble is its a track day. You WILL get a little carried away, lean more, accelerate harder and before you know it you will find the limit of your tyres.

Just my 2 cents but I wouldnt dream of doing a track day on anything other than a sports focused tyre.

It's an 06 ZX636 and it's my first time at KH on a bike, but I know the track really well from being on there in cars.

You only get the best out of super stick tyres if you know what you are doing with them, warm up times, pressures etc, sports tourer tyres are getting better all the time and they are still pretty sticky, the problem with them is if you are super quick you will just burn them out quick and you may think 'wow they are boiling' but they are loosing their grip quick.

But then gain its an evening track day in scotland, chances are cold or rain :p go with the Sports tourer tyres and let them warm up, if you highside it wasnt my fault...

I have been considering some form of little thing to commute with. only thing i can come up with is a super moto.

I only do about 6 miles so comfort isn't really the biggest factor. but love the look of the motos.

On the other token the only reason i really want one is so i can get shot of the guy i seam to now give a lift. im not the chattyest of people and in the morning less.

But the money for a moto could be saved and 2 years time i could go get the Millie I want. Hmmmm the choices.

I considered a SM but decided against it for 2 reasons:
1) I have a fat ass and they tend to have a razor blade for a saddle, and
2) the decent ones seem to have very short service intervals.

I love the look of them and like the idea of a single seat sticky tyred sprint machine!

Davie, get a CCM and you could go all the way to work on one wheel with relative ease. :D

I would really like a SM just as a bike to be stupid on, but that isn't a particularly good mindset to take onto the road... :D

It was my first time out on the Speed Four for a couple weeks today. After the MOT ran out and having spent £700 on the 24k service on Thursday, I rode 200 yards down the road and the advisory to get a new chain made sense as it decided to snap... another £200 later and the bike is finally feeling amazing, though my wallet is feeling very poorly.
