Ouch, trust me mate, I know just how you feel. This is what happened to me a few years ago. nearly lost my leg, 9 pins and 2 plates later and its still a mess and ill never run again but I was back goign round Oulten park 3 weeks after coming out of plaster :D

I ditched my leathers, lid etc, even the stuff that wasnt totally knakcered, just to wipe the slate clean.

Im glad we cant swear in here as the two of you would have me saying a lot of blue words. cos that looks ............... sore

Damn mate! haha you legend for going around oulten :D
Was your accident on road or track?
If I hadnt busted my arm I would have been riding months ago, wish they had pinned my arm would be able to do everything normal by now.
I should be able to run again, starting to get there in physio but running hurts my hip like hell, dont know if they want my pins out yet.

Happened on the road, just one of those things. coming back from playing football. had all my gear on (full race leathers the works), going round a corner, back end hit a metal manhold cover, skidded, gripped then highsided me skyward. That broke my collar bone and knocked me out, the unlucky bit happened when I was lay flat out next to the curb, the bloody bike smashed into my ankle crushing it against the solid iron curb of the bridge. Even with my race boots it didnt stand a chance. turned the bone in my ankle to pulp. had few ops including bone graphs from my hip but its still a mess. Considering the docs said I wouldnt walk again im now up to 45 mins on the cross trainer before the pain gets to bad. Had to do my own physio routine as the NHS didnt give a stuff after the plaster came off.

Its just one of those incredibly unlucky things, I wasnt acting a prat, showign off etc. just one of those things. Only came off once on over 50 track days, all that happened there was a poxy broken finger. Oh well, these things are sent to test us. It hasnt put me off bikes in the slightest.

Bike is booked in for a full service at Teesdale motorcycles in Thirsk, 17th May (got that week off). The MOT will expire before then though so hopefully I can get it through with the tiny fork seal leak before then! (the Ohlins on my bike are well known for leaking).

Ive always had a right nightmare buying Puig stuff, I think in the end I found puig or one of the big german distributors had an Ebay shop and I bought a screen from there.

I have ordered my screen today from bs-motoparts-uk ebay site.
Thanks :D

I've got a trackday on Sunday and the weathers been forecasting snow for that day but luckily it's been changing and now reckons it'll be clear! although still forecasting sleet for the night before.... British Summer Time, get stuffed!

Ah! I was on the hunt for good roads at the weekend, but was over Wallingford way. Noted!

A handful more for you and anyone else!

Edit: tniyurl.com is swearied for some reason, just replace it :)

Shinfield to Alton (B3349). Awesome route, nuff said! and it leads right to the alton->basingstoke road, so a good 40 (ish?) decent miles in a row.

Wantage -> Newbury (B4494) -> Hungerford (A4) -> back to Wantage (A338). The Hungerford to Newbury (A4) bit is just to join the triangle together, but great roads, much better than they look on the map! Never seen any cops out there either ;)

Witney to Enstone via Charlbury (B4022) - cracking B roads. Also Charlbury to Chipping Norton (B4026) is a great road. Again no cops.

B3018 from Bracknell to Twyford. Really dangerous this one, blind hills and very tight corners! Fun though!

B3012 from Frimley to Pirbright otherwise known as the "Deepcut bends" - totally awesome but only about two miles of fun. It's where I scrub my tyres in; can do them in two runs :D

Can link plenty more around Worcestershire if you fancy going that far, and also plenty more around Surrey too (Cranleigh/Dorking/Petersfield/Midhurst/Billinghurts that kind of area)

I have a query regarding the removal of my exhausts.

Due to my exhaust downpipes not being made from the best of materials and the addition of me riding all through the winter a hole has developed at the point of 2 into 1 before my end can pipe starts. I managed to get a 304 grade stainless downpipe set for my CBR.
Loosening most of the bolts attaching the pipes to the engine was not really an issue until I hit one of the middle cylinder bolts.

Its pretty much stuck fast and its at the point where i fear putting any more force on the bolt will destroy the head or worse case internal damage to threads or shear the bolt.

Can anyone give me any tips to remove this bolt. I should add this is an Aluminium head also.

the first thing i imagine would be petrating oil for 24hrs - just keep spraying that on every few hours and see if that helps to free it off a touch?

only trouble is being alloy you'd stand more chance of damaging the head than the bolt.

crap er....

bolt extractor 'might' be necessary but should ideally be a last resort as you might have to drill the bolt out and you would make it harder having the toughened material of a stud extractor in there.

i would suggest coating the new bolts in vaseline but as its the manifold it would literally burn it off.

Been coating it in penetrating oil, due to the position of the bolt its very hard to actually allow the oil to penetrate. Great design though.... I thought it was common practice to use a nut to fix the pipes on rather than a whole bolt going into the engine. I was thinking of putting the end can back on and starting up the engine to normal temps and use some frostbite on the bolt to try and keep it as cool as I can. I am starting to run out of ideas before its going to get quite physical to remove this bolt. I am scared something is going to get permanently damaged...
