Try to only use a single hex socket, you will get better "bite" and less chance of rounding the head of the bolt, penetrating oil is usually pretty good at what it does and is very "searching" so it should have at least got some way into where it needs to be, be brave and go for it!

Well Anglesey went really well yesterday. Weather couldnt had been better considering the forecast a week ago!! Great fun, I'll post some videos later :) Heres some pictures

I tried a little more with the bolt. I dropped the radiator down and got the hex socket on. I felt it starting to turn so I went to the side of the bike to see if what was actually happening. Turned out it was the bolt head shearing!

Trying to cut off the 4 individual pipes from the engine to release some pressure.

If the bolt head shears, at least you can then get the pipes out of the way and hopefully have enough of the bolt left to get a stud/bolt remover on to it, and as you said, it will be relieved of all the pressure so shouldn't take as much force to get out as it would have with the pipes in-place, good luck and keep us posted.

Can anyone suggest the best shops & web sites to buy components to mod street bikes mines an FZ6 S2 2008 Naked. & also any mod suggestions
Cheers

Hi, is anyone here an SV650 rider? I'd like to step up from my GS500 and have something nicer for the summer but cash is going to be tight so I'll have a pretty hard limit of £2,000.

It'll do a little commuting, occasional motorway trips and the odd 250 mile day out. I'm thinking an early 2nd gen SV650 or restricting the budget a bit for a later 1st gen.

Any opinions on Bridgestone Battleax BTO-14's?

Not that clued up to on tyres.

S3 has 2 new ones on but paranoid now as not heard that much good about them and would rather be safe than sorry and i'm a bit of a hooligan really on the bike

I know plenty guys that will recommend battlax tyres.

cant say anything about them myself but from what I hear they are good.

Considering a set for the VFR as these Metzler lasertech's dont install me with confidence. but then again with a 130 on the back i dont have a huge amount of rubber anyway

Forgot to post erlier.

Was in Glasgow last night at a bike forum meet.

Coming back on the M8 in Glasgow there is about 5 lanes, I see this bus making great speed on my left and changing over the lanes quickly. Im in the 4th lane he is in the first on the left. Next i look and see him and he is moving to the second rather rapidly. and staying there. all of a sudden he is coming over the 3rd and 4th lane at this point im about half way up the side of it and he is still coming.

if the 5th lane hadn't been there i would be a bus wheel. started waving my hand at him and all i get is a middle finger. Was raging

They do wear fairly quickly though, although ive not really properly compared them to other tyres.

Finally managed to get the Studs & Nuts Out. Turned out the Nuts where stuck so hard to the studs I had actually mistaken them for whole bolts!!
Ah well, we learn as we go on....

Cut off each individual pipe so I could just leave the last stud exposed. With the use of some Vise Grips it didn't take any effort to get the stud out.

The offending Stud & Nut -

Pick up my new 'Busa in just under 3 weeks. Got a full Akra system and Power Commander V ready to fit :D

took a run up to the Cat & Fiddle for the first time in 3 years today, what have they done to that place :( Speed cameras and police everywhere, used to be such a great road now its like riding through a doughnut convension.

Stopped at the bike shop near Lymn services and he came over as recoginised my bike from the cat & fiddle, he was saying how all the cameras are linked, go through any combanation of 2 and busted :( , I was taking it very easy as im still getting used to being back on a bike after over a 2 year gap, im pretty sure I wouldnt of averaged out over the limit, guess ill have to wait 2 weeks to see if I will escape 3 points or not. I know one thing, I wont be going back there.
