I dont think you will have a problem with the weight, but you will notice a big difference handling wise compared to the NC30 lol :p

it wasnt my first choice of bikes but it looks so clean and has so few miles on it I am drawn to it :P do they handle really badly then? Im not an aggressive rider but I dont really want to get it if im not able to get reasonably low without feeling like its going to explode

No it dont handle bad , the nc30 like all the smaller sports bike go round corners like they are on rails :D

Nah m8, you won't notice the weight difference really. The ZX7R is a seriously underrated bike. It has one of the best and most "planted" front ends in the business, even till this day. This can be traced back to its predecessor, the ZXR750 in it's incarnation as the 1991 ZXR750J1. It got the ball rolling for big Kwacks with really good front ends. I know, I owned one from brand new back then. And I've ridden a ZX7R as well. Excellent bikes which will easily stick with and keep pace with most of todays modern bikes on the road in "real" conditions.

It did handle well but just totally lacked any power, I have been looking at R6's as well but keep hearing horror stories about 2nd gear just dying Its nice to hear the weight shouldnt make that much of a difference, the main worry is not when its moving but if it starts to tip when stationary or at parking speeds

Not 100% but i think thats only on the early one's 99/2001

It was on all of the carbed bikes, up to 2003 when it changed to FI I think. If he's looking at ZX7R's (only produced up to 2003 and unchanged from 1996 I believe) then it's probably in the same price range as the early R6.

The missus had a R6 (carb model) for a while and that never suffered from any 2nd gear issues. I wouldnt rule them out, do a bit more digging and see what you can find, im sure you would be able to pick up a good one. It has bar far the best engine of the 600s around at that time, I rode it back to back with my friends GSX6R of the same age, engine just felt so muh stronger and useable.

Another friend of mine sold his ZX7R end of last year, never got a chance to ride it but I always thought it looked fantastic in a bit of retro way. It was'nt slow by any means, just because of its size and weight it requires a bit more muscle to throw around. He didnt have any issues though and he was only around 5 7", 5 8"

i hope that was meant to say "wasn't slow by any means"! ;) Its not as quick as my zx6r but still not a mule

Unfortunately since returning to uni a mature student i had to flog my zx6r 636 b1h which i adored but couldn't afford to keep unfortunately

I replaced it with a zx7r p3 model :) Currently have put 2.5k miles on it since december, ignore the dust and dirt on it as this was the first dry day we had in ages, made a change from riding in rain etc

This was a few weeks ago, I have since then It's had a very thorough clean after a couple of weeks of rain and dirt ready for the sunny season (wont hold my breath), stuck a new set of road 2's on, stripped and rebuilt the front calipers (the winter raped the dust seal seats and the totally shafted the seals themselves) and fitted braided lines, its a dream now.

Oh and im only 5ft 6 and I have no issue with it whatsoever, im bonding with it quite well

not as quick as the zx6r ? do you mean straight line speed or round corners etc? as the 750 has a bit more power but weighs about 40 kilos more so I suppose they should be about even

Did almost 500 miles this weekend - a test run (first long fun this year) to Weymouth on Saturday, then me and a couple of mates rode to Brecon on Sunday – thought we were doing the ‘fabled’ Black Mountain Pass, but it turned out to be the Black Mountain Road (damn website and my lack of further research!!!!).

So, another ride will be planned to find the aforementioned fabled road, I think it’s the A4069, we did the A4059, which was quite good in its own rights, no hairpins though.

Any of the scottish guys done the Dukes pass? or anyone in here in general?

The A821 Never done it myself heard loads of people saying it is great and others saying it has been destroyed.

straight line speed id imagine them both to be very similar, i think on paper the 7r has it by a few mph, but i mean getting to top speed, the zx6r revved a lot faster and it seemed to accelerate faster, pretty sure it did. Corners both are excellent bikes, good old kawasaki front ends i guess to thank for that.

It could just be the fact the 7r has a bit more torque and as such the top end rush wasn't quite so abrupt as the power was more constant through the revs, unlike the 6r which exploded after 7k ish :D

The 6r had better brakes though, weighed next to nothing which meant you could flick it around easier than the 7r, 7r takes a little bit of muscling around sometimes, but its an excellent bike despite being a little underpowered for its weight and they dont gof or much cash these days either

Im just uploading some photos from my phone to my dads laptop, il stick a clean photo of it up haha instead of the grubby ones above

edit: much better :D

Is anyone who's down south in Dorset sort of way who go to the Dream Machines Bike Night at Poole Quay on Tuesdays? Planning on going tonight, first time, apparently 1000's of bikes turn up, should be interesting to see!

Have been before a few times, its a good night when the weathers nice. hopefully get down there at some point this year.

Is tonight the first of the year? get the £5 wrist band if you plan on going again this year.

Did it last season, and never again ! Mud, gravel and other crap all over the road. Single track , up and down lots of tight blind bends. Not for me.

Road conditions may have changed , but I doubt it , even our club runout routes avoid it now :(

What club you with?

I have been hearing it was a great road but other say the surface has been destroyed. Looking at google maps it doesn't look that much fun :(

I thin kit's either the first or second of the year, couldn't find dates, just said from first Tuesday of April, so assuming it's on, weather is nice enough :D.

And yeah, I'll be getting the wristband, as I'm based around 20 minutes away, going to be here till November time most likely.
